    Woodlore Gransfors Bruck Outdoors Axe

This made me chuckle! I just have an image of a load of beardy blokes sat with a dinner plate full of snakes, tucking into their meal with an axe tucked in the crook of heir elbows!

    Family tent

Buster. What is your budget? We use the OzTent RV5. It is fantastic, and at 6ft3 I can stand up straight inside. However, it is a bit spendy to buy new and due to its built in frame, it is about 2 metres long when packed away, so wouldn't fit inside a normal car - mine travels on the roof...

    Wellie wellie

You can get rigger boots quite cheap from places like ScrewFix and Tool Station - not sure if they would do a non-steel toe version though, as they are aimed at tradesmen. Good luck!

    pillows

I carry an empty pillow case, then similar to the stuff sack idea, I just stuff it with my warm kit - particularly good if you have a softie or other down jacket to hand.

    An open letter to Bilmo

Lovely craftsmanship. I'll drop you a line at some point Ian, because I have been trying to find someone to make a large roofrack storage bag for me. When vehicle touring and camping I use an OzTent RV5 for my family and I. It is a superb tent but the supplied carry bag is not...

    Local Country Show

Highclere by any chance? We went on the Monday. Nice to stroll round, and I enjoyed a tasty hog roast gap, but that was about it. Had hoped to bag some waterproof trousers but didn't have any luck!

    Boots or Shoes?

If it helps, I have quite a bit of experience with Salamon and Merrells. I had a pair of Salamon approach shoes which I wore regularly for a few years for mixed use, then wore them for a week of trekking in Dogon Country in Mali, covering about 10 miles per day on soft ground and some rocky...

Hi Spartan I see a few months have passed since your post, but do you still have the tarp for sale? Thanks, Guy.

    What did you buy today?

Yep! I ordered a new hat today. I spent last weekend camping at Eastnor Land Rover show, and it hoofed it down all weekend! I normally wear my Lowe Alpine mountain hat in the rain with a gore tex jacket, but when I'm wearing a coat rather than a technical goretax jacket, the Mountain cap...

    Hello! New guy from Winchester.

Hi everyone I have just joined the forum / site. My name is Guy; I have been interested in bushcraft from a young age. I was in the Scouts, did DofE and have always enjoyed being outdoors. I am ashamed to admit that life usually gets in the way and I don't spend as much time out there as I...
