What bit of your kit is a keeper?

My limited-run Birdland basha. Got it when starting my training with ExtraSurvival. Birdland tent company made these in limited runs for Extra when this bushcraft thing was in its infancies and went bankrupt later. I just returned from 14 days hammocking and hiking in Sweden and kept thinking...

Morakniv ash wood outdoor knife collection

Funnily enough, the Garberg and Kansbol were received with the same pitchfork-like reactions at the time. They became a hit nevertheless. But for this price they will face stiff competition from Esee (Camplore scandi), Condor with a couple of models amongst these a cool looking new puukko: The...

    Kukri for Bushcraft use ?

I own a couple of Himalayan Imports and a Condor Heavy Duty Kukri or Alan Kay fame. The HI's are all wall hangers, but the Condor lives near the fireplace - I have beat the snot of of that one for kindling and splitting smaller blocks and its thicker edge holds up fine. I really like that one...

    Casstrom woodsman: steel?

No - they switched from Bohler K720 steel to Uddeholm Sleipner. K720 is basically O2, which is close to O1 steel. From my experience with the Lars Falt knife, it quickly takes a patina and will rust when neglected. As far as I understand it: Sleipner, a semi-stainless, goes more towards D2...

    Lionsteel knives

I own the Lionsteel M4 in M390 - a belter of a knife in both use, edge holding and ergonomics. Team it up with a Mora carver and you have covered all cases. As with all my knives - I sharpen mine with a cheap cardboard/sandpaper combi and a strop. Nothing to it. The B41 will be a performer as...
