    Sharpening steels

The strop is abrasive though, so isn't just cleaning teeth, it's removing metal? Unless you're not using any compound on it?

    Sharpening steels

Absolutely, I was going to post similar. There are a handful of exceptions where the 'steels' are made of ceramic, or coated in an abrasive, so they look like normal steels but are actually sharpeners dressed up like steels, but they are very much not the usual.

    Sleep mat for scouts

No, last time I tried to buy one (Decathlon MT500) they were selling a smaller size than advertised online. But it'll likely replace my current one which goes underneath my Exped air mat, unless I keep reading threads by @Dan00001 which tend to make me want to go for a Multimat.

    Sleep mat for scouts

Isn't that a relatively recent design though? It's thin, but that's because the waffle shape is designed to trap warm air in those pockets beneath you, rather than relying on the foam itself. So it's using that design to enable it to be thinner and thus lighter whilst also insulating you.

    Sleep mat for scouts

I don't really understand. So modern, but not waffled, and no air in/out. So it's a solid foam mat but using modern materials? Perhaps some of the Multimats with their fancy foams. Though they're not new exactly, been around for a while. Good thread here where Dan and Keith explain to me just...

    No perfect set up?

I think I can see what you're getting at. Just need to get out and try it - and make it reversible for when the weather clears o_O

    No perfect set up?

Definitely no perfect shelter, always varies depending on weather, terrain and local conditions. But versatility within a system will be able to keep you covered for most things. You and me are after the same thing, and I've managed this a few times, but it's definitely not for when it's windy...

    Recommend me a wristwatch.

Given the size you're after and your price bracket, I can only think of Invicta. Have a look at what they have to offer, as they are very large, but that's what your dial diameter and WR requirement is bringing about. Edit: another Steeldive type brand, this one may well meet your requirements...

    Recommend me a wristwatch.

Yes the diameter given is always the case diameter, as that's what most people are concerned with in terms of size on wrist (even though there are plenty of factors like visible dial diameter, lug to lug distance and nature of the bracelet's end links). I'll have a think. Edit: You're going to...

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

I did not! He's a fascinating guy, and quite bonkers.

That excuse cannot be used here any more

It's a lot easier to miss than hit, so I certainly can and do plenty of the 'else' part ;)

Crossbow and broadhead sales ban and crossbow licensing one step closer.

This is the padded cell approach which really falls down flat. If everything that can be used to harm someone is removed, then that's what you end up with. The idea of tools 'designed for the purpose of being lethal'...I mean this is just impossible. You're bracketing terms to things which mean...

Crossbow and broadhead sales ban and crossbow licensing one step closer.

Pattree, this is what I'm talking about. They are fundamentally different items. Whilst you are free to construe that they have 'exactly the same' purpose, to suggest a crossbow and a 12+ ft/lb air rifle 'are the same tool' is quite a stretch.

Crossbow and broadhead sales ban and crossbow licensing one step closer.

Quite reasonably, you could also look at it the other way around. "Because X is banned Y should be also. Because Y isn't banned X shouldn't be also." This is just to suggest that this kind of reasoning doesn't really work under scrutiny as you can reverse it. To proceed in this (either) way...

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

Oh yes, always liked the look of the city knife. Nimble little fixed blade yet substantial enough for some tougher stuff. Always held off as it looked like it needed a little bit of a finger guard.

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

Disappointing you had that experience with yours. As for Virtuovice, I didn't get the impression he was too worried about blade money! He seemed to just love the process of reprofiling almost every knife he bought. I'd pay a premium for one of his regrinds even if it's AUS8 masquerading as A2...

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

An entirely understandable stance. I'm mostly being devil's advocate given the context of my having not bought a BRKT in a long time, at least 10 years. So I'm not likely to be buying one regardless unless it's something very cool, or they branch out into folders. So it's likely a no from me...

    Barlow knife ?

The whole hinge area being made of metal? Folders made like this have been around for many decades at this point TLM! Not usually as sleek as Ostap Hel's designs, but the use of titanium and steel in folders is very much established.
