I'll complete my across wales walk sometime this year. The April trip is set in stone date wise as it two bank holidays together so I'm off work anyway. Unfortunately it also means I might not get to sleep in the bothy as others might bag it before me.

Not exactly north nots but also not far away is shining cliffs woods at ambergate. they will let you camp and have fires and whatever for £2 a night. Perfectly reasonable and a great little woods. There are at least 4 good camp sites there.

Ok thanks everyone you made me make a new choice. I think we will try the bothy at penrhos isaf and have a few days just walking Forrest, hill and waterfalls. Thanks all you thing autumn would be better for my walk across ?

I have a manfrotto with a ball head and couldn't think of a better head. You can lock them for panning and zooming and when running free they catch everything (if you are fast enough) sorry I don't know what model mine is but it's light and folds very small

Yeah the "merino" mention is what makes me ask about these perticular ones...I have the "normal" sealskinz socks and as you say they are great for wet and cold...I was hopeing that they had made some that combined both merino and the usual sealskinz waterproof layer. If you own the origional tracks that you have on the mp3 player then it`s not illigal to download copies of them from torrent sites...But i guess that`s a whole nother topic really.. might be something for you to look at though just google "music torrent sites"

Grizedale is full for the bank holiday but this site http://www.fishergroundcampsite.co.uk/ doesn`t take bookings but lets you have a fire.. i`ll be there from the Friday of the bank holiday but if i had the choice i`d have gone to Grizedale
