    Curing Rabbit Pelts

Hi, I was wondering what method people use for curing rabbit skins. I have done it to a baby rabbit before by just scraping off the skin and then covering in salt for like a week. Is this something I can do for a full size rabbit? I have two that have been paunched and ready to do! Thanks Martin

What can I do with this small antler?

Hi there I have been given a small antler and I am struggling to think of things to use it for. It was found in the woods by my uncle: Any ideas? Thanks

    Is it pignut season?

As the title suggests, I'm after some pignuts! I have a day off tomorrow and I'm going camping in the evening so wanted to do some foraging. Am I too early for this? Also what sort of habitat will I find them in? Thanks :)

    cooking pheasant on/with a campfire?

Hi there, I am going camping tonight and wondered if any of you guys and gals have experience in cooking a pheasant on a campfire. I eat it all through the winter from shooting and that, and know that if done incorrectly can be extremely dry after cooking. Any tips or methods that you prefer? I...

    Uses for pine resin?

I went out today and had a look for pine nuts, but found that without an axe I couldn't get at them any sense. What I did find however is this: It's the snapped end of a massive limb that had broken off of an even bigger main trunk. I'm pretty sure it's Douglas fur, or Scots Pine. What you...

    Handmade Folding Buck Saw.

Again, never sure where to post the threads, so I apologise if it's in the wrong forum/subforum! I saw these advertised on the a certain tool/outdoor equipment website and decided that I could probably make one for less than the asking price. Here's what I made following Paul Kirtley's very...

    using mora with firesteel

Apologies if this is in the incorrect forum/subforum. I'm trying to learn how to get sparks with my firesteel using the back of my Mora knife (thanks for recommending it to me, it's a great knife). I've watched a vid where Ray Mears shows how to do it, and makes it look really easy. I simply...

    DD vs. Hennessy Hammocks

Hi, I have never used a hammock and have been thinking of getting one for some time, probably since I signed up with this forum! I have seen there are loads of brands, but two that come up all the time seem to be DD and Hennessy Hammocks so I thought I'd ask some questions about them and ask...

    Venison Ribs

Me and my dad arrived home from fishing and I decided to light a fire with my new fire steel and cook outdoors. Dad brought out some venison ribs and stuck them on too and I've got to say suprised me with how tender and mouthwatering they were. Here's them done a bit more: I'm...

    coconut hair tinder

I've been trying to find a tinder to use with my fire steel. I walked all around the woods and copses around the village I live in and, due to not knowing much about it, could not find anything. I came home and found a coconut hair mattress, pulled a load out and gave it a go. It lit with one...

    Knives

Hey there, I'm new here and am not too sure if this has been started before or is in the right sub-forum. I'm looking to get a knife for general use when camping, cutting rope, cleaning fish, carving wood and general out-doors activities. I have the good old opinal for work, but have seen mainly...

    Hi there from Abbotsbury

Hello everyone. I am moving back down to my home village of Abbotsbury after living in Guildford and Northampton for four years. Being in the middle of nowhere (which is great for me!) I'm going to be out and about in the woods and fields surrounding Abbotsbury trying to learn bushcraft...
