    Soulpad 4000 Ease – 4m Bell-tent with SIG, Stove & Chimney

For Sale: Soulpad 4000 Ease – 4m Bell-tent with SIG (Sewn-In Groundsheet), wood-burning stove and chimney. We have owned our tent for 3.5 years and enjoyed every minute we’ve spent in it. Since we now take our dog camping with us (and don’t travel light!) we’ve decided we need something a bit...

    Cheapest 4x4 on a budget?

Just picked up a Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin for less than £2k. It's only a 1.8 petrol, but should be OK for the missus getting around in the winter - her normal car is a Fabia vrs with a supercharger and automatic gearbox, so that will be firmly garaged if/when the snow falls. It's in need of a...

    BioLite Stove with USB port

I think the principle is great, but I agree - I'd be concerned about putting my phone near the fire to charge what with water and hot ash nearby. I'm also not sure how robust it is - suspect the orange plastic is going to be a weak point either from the heat or be damaged in transit. I'll...

    Camp Fire Grill/hotplate Prototype

Very good! I have one (not made, but bought) and it's proved very useful. Will be interesting to see how it handles the heat of the fire - our one is prety substantial and still tends to warp a bit!

Black Iron Omelette Pan 20cm / 8" Flat Handle

I'm guessing if it weighs a fair bit it must be made of fairly thick metal? Be interested to hear how you get on with it.

    what car you driving?

Used to have a Freelander which I loved, and although not a "proper" 4x4 it was pretty capable and I had some fun in it: Sadly my job dictated that I needed something a bit more economical... so I traded it in for an Audi A4 2.7 V6 TDI which was amazing, great on fuel (55mpg+) and a superb...

A new compact to carry, always

My brother has a Panasonic Lumix TZ10, I was really impressed with it. Takes great pictures for a compact and has good zoom. His model has a GPS in it too so it tags all the locations you took photos which is pretty neat.

    Kotlich cooking pots

I guess time will tell, but I'd be a bit concerned about chipping the enamel off through lugging it about and using it outdoors but agreed - it's a lot lighter than cast iron and far easier to clean!

    Some first car advice

If you're not fussed about what the car is you could do far worse than a Hyundai Getz. We had one for my wife for a few years (1.5 diesel) and it was a comfortable car that had plenty of room in it and was just as happy on motorways as it was round town. Bit more room than a Fiesta and quite a...

Advice on bell tents please, before I spank all my cash.

You'll be amazed how quickly you can set it up, and it's the only tent I've had that fits back in the bag!! :) We have the 4m and use it regularly all year round with our stove. The two of us have plenty of room with sleeping bags, stove, and a couple of folding chairs and all our clothes, food...

and for a little comfort camping?

Well, staying in a confined space with her I really did fear that I'd be turfed out of the tent if I'd tried such a move! :)

and for a little comfort camping?

We had an airbed for a time, but I hate breaking the quiet of the outdoors when pumping it up (either with a footpump or an electric one). I didn't actually think it was that comfortable either - I often woke up sweating and when sharing it with the missus every movement from her side was...

    portable solar charger

12 volt versions will probably just be 2 or 3 panels wired in series, so shouldn't make much different to efficiency. Admittedly the CPF stuff is geared towards charging smaller cells, but same principles. I've enquired about a couple of his mini voltmeters for my setup from the guy.
