Have a look at Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula... Mallaig is literally the end of the line on the west coast

You could catch the boat from Mallaig to Knoydart...

Where the old Parlington hall used to be is pretty good, near the Dark Arches on the way to Aberford...it's no secret locally :)

There's a really good gr route on corsica which is fantastic at the end of summer, (it's too hot in august) I'd recommend the gr10 coast to coast, the guide by Douglas Streatfeild-James is considered the best one, along the trail is the peak Vignemale, the highest in the french pyrenees also...

There's a campsite opposite the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris, the pub also has a bunkhouse and reasonable B&B and does decent beer... There's the Youth Hostel at the top of the pass that's good for a base for doing the pyg track, or the crib coch routes to the top of snowdon, or the route over...

How about Baja in Mexico for the canoe trip..?
