    Which of these two axes!

I'm not an axe expert, but. I bought a Gransfors Wildlife hatchet. It is really well made. It arrived quite sharp, but, after having a go at sharpening and restoring two old axes I'm quite confident of referbishing an axe head. I can even re-helve an axe to a very reasonable standard. That looks really good. What did you use after the wire brush? Once you have put an edge on the axe and stroped the edge on leather with metal polish the edge/bevel can look like a mirror. It'll look awesome when contrasted to the "grey" of the rest of the axe head.

The first picture I posted of a round house is not the one Dai built just up from Caswell car park. If think people are living in the round house near Anold Church...

I should have added- In the picture, the edge of the axe appears shiny as if there is a flat bevel to the edge, there is not, the bevel is convex (only) and is shiny/mirror like further up the bit that can be seen in the picture. It's as sharp as a very sharp knife too.

I wouldn't bother with wire brushes other than to get loose or dusty rust off. I use a Dremel with a coarse little sanding drum. But, you can also cut a circle out of a piece of wet'n'dry and touch the spinning abrasive side on the piece to be cleaned/polished. I have found that with a big piece...

Well done Tadpoll. That didn't take long. What on earth is it all about? Is it private land? I rarely seen people in the "compound" what is it all about? Sorry now I'm asking more questions than giving answers.:)
