    TRACKS: Sorting Fox from Dog

Another thing you can keep the two seperated from is the overall shape. The fox looks like a waterdroplet (as someone said, narrower). And the domestic dog has a cumulus cloud shape. This sometimes also comes in handy when you only have a depression. And the tracks are different of course...

    Cold Case NEW

Ah, jumping in late. Nice one! What I often notice is you guys name animals like muntjack and mink, and each time I raise an eyebrow. Here in Netherlands we have imported animals in the wild, but not yet as many and widely spread as you have in the UK. I think it makes it easier for us, but...

    Ordering problems Halfpenny's video

I received the DVD set, pfew. Although it had the same type of scratches this one played fine. Made backups immediately so I will be save in the future and don't need replacement... Haven't watched it entirely yet but did some browsing over it and it looks like interesting information. In the...

Cold Case - Who Killed "Cock Robin"? Graphic Image

Excuse me being Dutch and not sure about the name, but my best guess is a sparrowhawk (male). The prey is a greenfinch. I think as he took the prey with him he got hungry beaks to fill.

    Deer!!

Just be out there so you get more events like this, they're the best teacher :) And for cold rainy days a book or two... Tom Browns' Field Guide to Nature Observation and Tracking and Jon Youngs' Animal Tracking Basics for example... A good guide for signs will also help (like Preben Bangs')...

    Ordering problems Halfpenny's video

Thank you for your reply. That is exactly what I did. After the first email when I just thought one disk was missing I got a reply in 2,5 hours. But after that when I found out about the mislabeling and the scratched disk I also sent an email describing those but I did not get a reply at all...

    Ordering problems Halfpenny's video

Hello Forum, For a while I had the website of Dr. Halfpenny bookmarked as I had an interest in buying the video he offers. http://www.tracknature.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IS0034&Product_Code=VMT&Category_Code=VIDEOS At 80$ not really cheap, and for our little family quite...

    Novice tracking book please

Its not a bad book but imho its focusing a bit too much on prints alone. Although most people will think thats the most sign of wild you'll see out there its actually the least. And following tracks without clear prints for a beginner is quite hard. Other sign such as scat, feeding, sleeping...

    Novice tracking book please

That is the same as the Preben Bang and Preben Dahlstrom book, just with a foreword by Ray Mears if I'm not mistaken... Just so to prevent that anyone orders both ...

    Novice tracking book please

The Bang and Dahlstroms's animals tracks and sign book as recommended by several others before is the book to get IMHO. Besides the signs and tracks etc it also goes ina little deeper. Its the book I recommend to everyone if they just want to get 1 book (or their first book).

    stupid question of the day

They will share trails. Funny I know a track in use by badgers, foxes and roadeer. At one point a tree has fallen over the track. Badgers and foxes can still walk under it, but the roadeer not, so just before the tree the roadeer have their own track around the tree, which connects back to...

    TRacking Challenge - Snow Angel

Pigeon, Pheasant, Red Kite, haha, some help on how big it is (ruler in the photo) would be a big help :) Just from the looks of it I would also say pheasant, I've seen lots of similar prints. IMO these wings prints are amongst the most beatifull tracks you can find :) Here's sone from me from...
