Your most sentimental piece of kit

Excellent thread!!! I don't have a treasured piece of kit cos I alway seem to find something better to replace it. But saying that the woods I go to means a lot to me, I've been going there since I was five years old, and 33 years later I still love the place! I've just replaced my...

    Aluminum vs Steel Pots

I wouldn't worry to much about the affects of cooking in aluminium, just consider all the other toxins we are all exposed to on a daily basis. And I'm assuming your pots at home aren't aluminium, so cooking in aluminium mess tins once a month isn't gonna harm you! Also years ago I used to have...

All his programmes are setups for tv to show us what could happen and what to do in a survival situation. One example I noticed is in one of his programmes I think...

    How Big a Bergen?

Of course, best way to build the chap up! Prawnster if I was in your position I would definately buy the Karrimor Sabre 60-100, this should meet all your camping needs.

    How Big a Bergen?

This is exactly what I'll be doing this summer for a couple of nights with my eldest son, especially with the tent bit! I don't have the tent yet but I do have my 100 litre rucksack ready, this'll be for clothes/mats/sleeping bags/tent, and my 30 litre Sabre will be for my kit, food, and water.

    Smoke gets in your eyes.

Hi and great forum! I found a smokey fire is either due to wet/green wood or lack of air, so make sure the wood is dry by leaving it next to the fire to dry out and don't pile to much on it. Most of the time my camp fires don't give any smoke off and so anyone walk near wouldn't even know I...
