    Spoonfest 2025

It’s about the same price as the carver but more hatchet style head & longer.

    Spoonfest 2025

The Woodland axe. It’s a little bigger & heavier & a longer haft than the basic axe. Similar size to the GB SFA, which I always regretted selling.

    Spyderco UK Penknife ? ''Edited''

There are many fake Spydies around, but you’re not going to know if you want a real one by trying the fake version. As many have said, just get one. You won’t lose much on it if you change your mind.

    Spoonfest 2025

I’d been eyeing up Robin’s axes for a while as I do have a bit of a soft spot for Sheffield steel. Sold all my Gransfors axes & replaced with one I forged with Dave Budd plus a heavy one he forged without me. Robin’s axe is nicely in between the two.

    Spoonfest 2025

Obviously I bought a new axe too. One of Robin Wood’s medium sized ones. I love it.

    Spoonfest 2025

I went as volunteer crew to Spoonfest 2025 & had a great weekend so thought I’d write a little report. Spoonfest, for those who don’t know, is a celebration of all things Spoon. Held in Edale in the Peak District at the beginning of August each year. I’ve been trying to go for a few years but...

    Brewing coffee?

I’ve tried a couple of different variations of these but I really don’t like them I’m afraid. I’ll stick to the Aeropress.

    Open question - Financial

Gold has done pretty well recently & is known to be good in a crisis. The current world instability should make it a solid investment. Some in a reputable unit trust or insurance policy savings plan might be good too. Medium risk stuff seems to be the sweet spot at the moment.

    Selling these days

We sold a lot of stuff on Facebook local sell & seek pages when clearing our parents’ estate and when we downsized. Marketplace was a waste of time. Just attracted con artists & weirdos. Local pages were much better. Cash on collection or bank transfer on collection only. I won’t post Facebook...

    What’s your top scone recipe?

That one looks very similar to mine in terms of proportions & they come out lovely. Bear in mind that the addition of an extra egg will make it more cake-like. I usually brush the tops with milk & sprinkle a little Demerara sugar on top for crunch.

    Wanted .20 cal air pistol

Looking for a 2nd hand air pistol or compact air rifle in .20 calibre. Ideally something like a Crosman ratcatcher with a takedown stock as it’s for controlling rats. Come to the conclusion I like .20 as a pest control round so want to get another one. Budget is minimal, so 2nd hand is the only...

    Sold Tyvek by DuPont

I have a couple of pretty big pieces of Tyvek left after a project which might be useful for the ultralight makers on this forum. Tyvek is a weatherproof membrane used in the building trade to seal roves & walls before cladding. Amazing stuff. Almost impossible to tear but can be cut with a...

    Sold DD XL Tarp

I’m not sure if this is the lightweight version or not as it has lost its bag & pins, guys etc before I got it. No holes, all the loops in place and reinforced. It’s in very good condition but too big for my current needs so I’m moving it on. £35 tyd. Offers via DM will be considered. Not really...

Petrified Fish Beluga - fixed blade, unboxing

Looks very cool. I like the simplicity & also love N690 as a blade steel.
