Tai Chi or other types of gentle exercise

Completely wacky suggestion and not in line of what you were thinking, but I've been really enjoying doing a bit of rebounding (mini trampolining) recently and I've no idea why it isn't more popular with men. Very low impact compared to running but with all the benefits, and you can add weights...

    What did you buy today?

Thanks for that, hilarious! Have to say that a cockerel is very close to a dinosaur too- especially those reptilian eyes. Mini velociraptors!

    Optimus 111b

Nice one, just play it safe. These are great stoves with an impressive roar at full chat, you'll love it!

    Optimus 111b

You asked for advice, you've been given good safety advice on two forums, and you're still tempted to add a volatile fuel and light it without testing/servicing? This particular model of stove does need to be used by somebody competent in operation and maintenance.

    Mushroom powder

Same, I keep a powder in stock which is a blend of varieties. Very versatile.

    Outdoor footwear for troubled feet

Wow, thank you all for the responses, I had a suspicion this might be a good place for ideas! All sorts of things to look into here which might work, and given the importance of getting her out and about again it will be worth trying the lot! Thanks Toddy, that's great to hear, and sad to know...

    Outdoor footwear for troubled feet

Wondering if anyone can help me poor old Mum. A proper countrywoman in her 70s whose life is walking her local hills and watching the grasses, flowers and wildlife change with the seasons. In the last few years she has had pretty horrific Rhumatoid Arthritis and osteoarthritis, poor circulation...

    Arbrex

Great advice @Nice65. I do a bit of fruit tree pruning/restoration and anybody I talk to who knows their business leaves things open to air to heal up naturally.

No one knows where it came from': first wild beaver spotted in Norfolk for 400 years

Yes, but 'buying British' or 'family farm' doesn't guarantee any of that and 'regen' having no standards or real definition can be and is applied utterly inapropriately. Nature friendly is one thing, pesticide free is another wonderful level of soil bacteria and inverts!

No one knows where it came from': first wild beaver spotted in Norfolk for 400 years

I'm a bit wary of this sentiment- there's a lot of yelling of 'Buy British' and 'family farms' at the moment, but in reality most of it is just as damaging as the big players and imported food. And theirin lies the problem. The population is simply too high to secure quality food for the...

Bushcraft and homesteading skills in WW3

I'll be safe from FPV drones because I've got a tactical EDC prybar with bottle opener.

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

But this thread was about something you can have control over, by taking a quick simple action with no worrying involved. That's why I made comments about defeatist attitudes, I for one appreciate such a heads-up.

Ok you've talked me into it. One rainy day! I do use Proton free VPN- a near neighbour and I agreed we'd both get a VPN to add to the statistics when the ill thought out online safety thingy was passed. Disliking computers and being a bit shaky with them, she got her 9 year old daughter to...

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

Quite the poser. Young people have little worldly experience so their views are null and void, likewise older people with a lifetime of experience of a world which no longer exists.

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

Reckon a 12 bore would be a better option than a gesture. On another train of thought, I found it odd as a child that older people were allowed to vote and have opinions, given they wouldn't be around to have to live through the consequences...

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

I'm 40 years off retirement age and can quite easily visualise remaining alive in a warped twisted future of ever decreasing liberties. Those with children might also have some concerns about what they will have to live through too. I therefore fight it and take every action possible to make it...

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

I do the first, but I'm so uninterested in internets/computers that I use gmail and I can't be bothered to change. Due to your comment I'm now dimly aware there might be something better but I'm not going to act any further ;)

Thanks for the heads up- the box was already unchecked in Gmail for me, and I removed the copilot thing from my computer as soon as I bought it, along with anything else uninstallable I didn't need.

Human evolution can't keep up with the rate of change

That and advances in healthcare- We can now fight off all sorts of tthe old killers and live to an average of seventy-something... sadly in a body that started to give up in many ways about half way there.
