    Advice needed - dog-sledding trips

One thing to be aware of is that the person sitting in the sled gets very cold. If your Dad's driving that's not so bad.

    loch Lomond blast.

Nowt suspicious at all; just some silly bushcrafter who ate too many beans and sat too close to the fire.:p

How much do you pay for your firewood?

Round our way it's about £70/cubic metre. Much better to carry a lump home from the woods every time you take the dogs out.;)

    Hand cream

Another one I used to use was to card and spin unwashed sheep's fleeces. Had hands as soft as a baby's bum from all the raw lanolin. CAUTION: Some folk are allergic to lanolin.

    Brrrr Chilly

Temperatures soared into the mid teens today, after a long spell of nice cold weather. Ah well, winter can't be too far away.

£500 for a pair of trousers?

My first house cost me £200. Inflation is a right bugger eh?

    Hand cream

Neutrogena "Norwegian Fisherman's Formula" hand cream works for me. It's based on what Norwegian fishermen use/used to protect their hands, the advertising blurb says. It is actually quite effective.

    Help!!

Apprenticeships are available to any age. There was a R4 documentary on the subject recently, and a chap who used to work in the works dept. of the local hospital had his picture in the local rag as one of a bunch of new apprentices and he is over 50.

    Help!!

Good advice. Any flying will set you up for life, C30, C17, helicopters, all will guarantee a job after your service. All air ambulance pilots are ex services due to the 2000 air hours required to get the job. Conversion training to civilian aircraft is financed (at present) by the RAF before...

    Aye, and if it isn't 42 we're stuffed.:D

    Global Warming

The "right" question is, "what new technologies will appear in the next two hundred years that will sort everything out?" Two hundred years ago there was no electricity; cars; antibiotics; telephones; aircraft; universal adult suffrage; paved roads; etc. etc. etc. All things that hadn't even...

    Global Warming

That's just it. Too much focus on the "Big Picture" and ignoring the "developement" of natural habitat that's been going on for too long. Climate change is being exploited by the usual suspects to amass £millions out of Carbon Trading, the people who could DO something about it aren't...

    Global Warming

That's what winds me up about the debate; the Planet can't suffer, it's a non sentient, non feeling collection of atoms. The whole "Global Warming" thing is totally anthropomorphising the situation; YES we will make the planet unsuitable for humans; TOUGH. There will be a lot of species...

    Rohan

I still have a lot of Rohan gear, which has lasted for years despite daily use. Recent stuff though has been trouble with pocket stitching coming undone and colours fading more quickly than seems normal. The prices haven't fallen to match the lower standards.
