Suffolk Bushcraft Daniel Boone Challenge - 22nd to 24th September 2017

Thanks for letting me know about this one at the 'moot. I do enjoy the Boone challenges in Suffolk (and it's good to be reminded about these links too). I'll be taking my daughter and all her stuff to uni for the first time that weekend so can't make it unfortunately. Hope everyone has fun...

Which bag/pouch for Swedish Army Trangia Cooker?

There's a trader on ebay and Etsy called 3treesproducts (No connection) who makes nice little light canvas stuff sacks for them. I have one and like it for its old school vibe. Other than that there was a thread on here a while ago (I'll try to find a link later) by a chap who had a very nice...

Yep, that's a cracker alright! Out of my price range unfortunately, but good luck with the sale nevertheless.

New book - The Walkers Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs

I've done one of his courses too - at the Royal Geographical Society no less; get me eh? I enjoyed it & got a lot out of it. There's definitely plenty of good stuff in his writing too, though I have to be honest and admit that I find it quite hard going.

New on site venue? The Tea Brewer?

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Could be done at the chute I guess, or maybe inside the fort for a more intimate setting? Wouldn't want to interfere with Dave Budd's stuff of course, and I guess the chute area would have to be left clear for the morning meet which might add to any sponsor's...

    Knife Advice

(Wandering further off topic....) I don't know the answer to that one, but I can tell you that he responded very quickly to my questions - in English - and was more than happy to tweak my sheath to my particular wants. Worth just asking him I guess.

Ah, I wondered whether that might attract any interest! Yes it's cool alright, but I didn't make it myself unfortunately ; check out Buccaneer Leatherworks on Etsy. It's a guy called Koen in Belgium. He has some great designs for Opinels. Very reasonably priced and very quick delivery. ( No...

And in fact I got myself a Skrama off the back of a fine review that Muskett did. I really like it as well. Oh, and I use an Opinel too - great little knives! Sent from my E2003 using Tapatalk

    Knife Advice

I'm pretty much of the the same view these days - hence my Mora Classic no. 2 gets used most - plus of course they are very cheap and fun to pimp (one for the OP to consider maybe?) Sent from my E2003 using Tapatalk

    Knife Advice

I've owned and used both the Becker and the F1, and like you convinced myself that they were just what I needed. However I later sold them both on. My view is that both are very well made knives, but are probably a bit too geared towards 'survival' to meet your needs. You probably already know...

    Kirtley or O'Leary?

I have done short courses with both and was happy with both. You won't go wrong if you choose either one. Sent from my E2003 using Tapatalk

    Gloves for around Camp

Have browse in here. I've used Cutter gloves for stuff like shelter building when I've wanted to protect my hands from thorns etc, rather than when using an axe or something. (previous satisfied customer. Good value too)
