A bit shocked and stunned by this one 2 otters frolicking in the water while I was walking the dog, maybe 30 feet away from me. Cautious and wary of me , but they both put their heads out of the water and watched me pass. Dog didnt see them which is good as she is a water lover and her...

    Two trees in one

Not too sure why you would want to graft elder but there is an easy way to get new elder plants, just pull off the complete little tufts that sprout from dry stems and pot them. Once they have grown to garden planting size , plant 2 or 3 different kinds close together in a clump Tant

    Plant id help?

Raspberries have a 2 year cycle , the green (this years) stems will not fruit, fruit is on the brown stems that were green last year, if there are any there that havent been mowed. The leaves look a bit funny on your pic so I am going for a hybrid of sorts perhaps run wild from a garden. Tant

    fungi id

A point well made ;) As for amanitas in general I leave them well alone. Dont pay a lot of attention to them cos there is no way I am eating them. See the white spotted cap and just keep on foraging. :) Tant

    fungi id

Rubescens as the name says turns red when cut or damaged, hence its common name the blusher. I'm sticking with a Panther cap mate, colours in fungi can be deceptive and at best a rough guide. The ring will appear to be at different heights depending how far the cap opens and is also a bit...

    What would you NOT eat

They are similar , octopus is not as sweet, and octopus tends to be bigger and meatier with tentacles about as thick as a thumb they can be chewy. Easiest way for octopus is just plain boiled, but grilled is good the outside caramelises and goes a lot like smoky bovril. Tant

BOD , perhaps you are pulling my leg perhaps not. Would be interested to hear how they are prepared though. Reminds me of a job interview in a bar in Greece, the landlord and prospective employer appeared with beers and a plate of octopus, and I realised if I was to have any chance of getting...
