    Daily Supplementation

I've been a big fan of beetroot juice for some time (after listening to on of Michael Mosley's Just One Thing podcast). I don't like the taste either, but do like the benefit. Between myself and some friends with played around with some other recipes and the best that we've come up is adding...

    YOYTi. (Why titanium?)

Without a doubt, ti is less pleasant to drink from than a stainless and also cools my coffee faster than stainless. It doesn’t matter what they science theory might say when it can be shown in practice. I still use the ti mug though not sure I would buy one. I do like making pretty colours on...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

Probably because there are sensible controls put in place... what have guns got to do with it? A daft argument to compare the two things. Leave a gun on its own and it’ll do…..nothing.

Where to find custom knife makers?

Sadly these days forums are not the place to find a mass of makers.

Where to find custom knife makers?

IG hashtags for anything like that are junk now. They have it so results just don’t show up. A bit of a shadow ban! If you try something like bushcraftknife, handmade knife uk or such like, you don’t get the results you expect. Or maybe I’m missing something.

Where to find custom knife makers?

I guess it’s more a question around finding someone you don’t know. Perhaps google and websites as searching on Instagram and Facebook is not possible these days.

Where to find custom knife makers?

I've got a friend who wants a knife making and wants to know where to browse to find various makers to check out in the UK. Where do you go to find them these days? I don't know!

Red alder is my current top pick.

    I dont know this tree

I’m more in agreement with Chris in erring towards an alder but it’s too hard to tell from this picture. I’ve dug my Philips tree book out - it’s been some years since it’s been out and I had to dig back three rows of books. There is nothing definite that jumps out. Please post a picture of...

Switching over to LED lighting? It's old hat now but there are probably still some hold outs that haven't changed over.

Oh, definitely needs scaling up. I haven't got mine sorted to actually generate yet as I want to make the generator, etc so it just spins in the wind as a thing currently but if you search for ugrinsky there, it's the stack of 3d printed sections - in theory easy to make a massive stack or...

Absolutely. If you look at that video of the wheat grass generator I posted above then he talks about needing to get production cost lower.

I think multipronged thinking is needed and stuff like Robert is doing is really interesting to me as some of the ideas are just so different. He’s here: https://youtube.com/@thinkingandtinkering?si=0zZdLwHgfVWuTEXy Lots to get into but a few different things….

I’ve seen a variety of suggestions. I assume you’ve seen Robert Murray-Smiths stuff? All sorts of ideas there. The small wheat type is interesting as well as various turbines, etc. I’ve actually got an ugrinsky turbine printed and in the garage to play with.

A big pole…. It’s worth bearing in mind that he does use the word prototype. I don’t think he has suggested that he’s at a final solution yet.

There are a few of his setups that have it tethered at the top. The second clip and the very last one have it. Maybe others.

    Rainwater harvesting system

£30 for the molded Barb not £25 - I forgot the vat! https://www.kingfisherdirect.co.uk/ibc-s60x6-2-inch-female-to-0-5-inch-hose-tail Still tempting for me as if I’ve got to buy decent hozelock connectors and have faith (the bigger factor) then it’s possibly not too far off being different...

No idea. Awful in what way?Leaks at the joints? I have seen some fully moulded that are about £25.
