    MindMoot & WinterMoot events

Good morning. My kids will be there and similar ages as well, they've been to the last few WinterMoots and have enjoyed all of them. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll happily answer.

    Top Quilt

I made one with an Apex lining. Cost about half what the commercial ones do and I love it. Need to make another one now that I can customised. Quite simple with a basic sewing machine though. I'll get some pictures later.

    Helikon Tex, any good?

I've got a couple of Helikon Tex bags, several trousers, shorts and their Bushcraft Smock and I've been impressed with the quality and detail on every item so far. I have had a couple of seams go on the trousers but this is normal wear and tear for me as they get used heavily, they will replace...

    Primaloft

Just ordered some Climashield Apex 133 and some 10D nylon with a DWR coating. insanely light at 22gsm. I'll let you know how I get on.

    Primaloft

Cheers Chris I'm definitely not expecting it to be as small as the PHD bag, I will probably end up taking it but the lack of a zip on that bag makes it a bit of a nightmare this time of year. I was thinking with a quilt that having a thinner one would work as I can always use my down gillet to...

    Primaloft

Yeah I did think that with the Silnylon have looked at all sorts so far. the Skylon or similar is looking most favourable at the moment unless I can find someone selling Pertex but that's unlikely. With regards to the weight it was more to do with if you had a couple of materials with similar...

    Primaloft

So options are £44 https://www.profabrics.co.uk/products/thinsulate-cs150-insulated-wadding 174gsm https://www.profabrics.co.uk/products/skylon-lightweight-nylon?variant=31188856406105 55-70gsm Or the Climashield Apex, probably 133gsm with either a coated ripstop or a lightweight ripstop one...

Cheers, do you think the Apex would be better than Thinsulate? Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

I quite fancy making a quilt for camping. Does anyone know of a UK supplier of Primaloft silver or gold or similar?

    Ticks and their removal!

I'm quite prone to getting ticks, the best tick remover I've found so far is the Tick Lasso, I think I've got about 4 of them scattered in various first aid kids and around the hours. The main benefit of these is they can accomodate any size tick and once it's out you it keeps hold of it so you...

    See through hammock

It's going to be interesting to see how it lasts. They claim a lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects however it doesn't include normal wear and tear, what that means in reality I've no idea so watch this space. As I said for longer camps I'll go with the tried and tested home made ones but...
