    Resin Question

Hi Sam, I have a project or two involving the use of resin so I have been doing some research on this. Resin / Rosin can have quite some difference in melting points. Many will tell you that you can't melt it in a double boiler (probably the safer method of doing things), however there are...

A Walk in The Woods.......Bill Bryson

Another very good book, lots of information, written with a bit of humour, but the factual content is superb.

Wild Camping Is Now Legalized in England!!!!!!!!

I did, my post was with reference to ammo's post above mine, he hadn't been caught out either as he'd just replied to someone else pointing out the same thing that you just have.

Wild Camping Is Now Legalized in England!!!!!!!!

Even Dartmoor has limits, I believe that you can stay in the same location for 48hrs and no more. There are also fire restrictions across the whole of the more set up in local byelaws.

    wynnchester? anyone heard of them?

Guys, just a quick one. That I am aware of Kevin isn't a member here yet, so he can't defend his company or reputation. If people are going to make negative comments about the company or the product it would be nice that they have some experience of his product. Now I don't know Kevin as a...

    bag ultimate survival knife alternative

Knives are a personal thing. Each to their own. Schools tend to use Mora's and Hultafors because they are a good cheap knife that ultimately is going to get abused and will be cheap enough to replace. One course I was on one of the guys learnt everything with a Mora, but afterwards he used a Ka...

    File or Stone (Poll attached)

When I started I used what I had available, a water slip stone and a DC4. I now have three b4stard cut files, a dc4, an axe puck and mouse mats that I use for axes.

    Habilis bushtool SRT?

That's a good call, I helped someone with a sheath for one of Duncan's knives. I can't comment on Mark's Kepharts as I have neother seen nor handled one in person, what I can say is that you'd get a decent knife from either of these guys as I own knives by both of these gents.

Hultafors Hunting or Trekking axe any experience??

Dave I don't know the exact differences between them. All I know is that there is a difference between the two. The Swedish Axe Steel is a traditional steel pretty much the same as you'd get with Gransfors Bruks and Wetterlings and that the Swedish steel is a laquered steel. I'll have a word...

    Habilis bushtool SRT?

There are some that may say that is a bonus. Most of the custom knife makers I have come across are nice guys, Steve is no exception to the rule, he's a really decent bloke. Talk through what you want and he'll do his very best to make your ideal come to life.

Hultafors Hunting or Trekking axe any experience??

I can't quite see what the grain is like running through the handle, but if it's anything like the ones I have here it'll be pretty good. I wouldn't worry about the handle being a bit rough, you want it like that so that you can grip the thing better. The axe mask isn't brilliant, but then none...

    Green Craft Blanket Smock

Yeah, Neil was single at the time and he used to do a lot of stuff in his spare time. He now has another half and a baby daughter and there is no such thing as spare time. Between dayjob and Green-Craft he doesn't get a lot of spare time and what he does he likes to spend with my niece. She's...

    Habilis bushtool SRT?

If I was ever to go for a Tom Browne tracker style knife I would buy one from White Tiger Knives. Steve Nowacki is a craftsman's craftsman, the finish on the knives is excellent and his leatherwork is very very good. I believe he calls his model "The Wolverine", I am no fan of this style of...

    Green Craft Blanket Smock

Hey Pete, the Green-Craft blanket smocks have pretty much ceased to happen. Neil was making them in his spare time, but due to other factors in his life he's had to stop. My apologies on this. The complete clothing page and the cutlery page on Green-Craft will be coming down for a while so that...

Show us your bow drill sets!

When you're teaching bow drill a lot it makes life a lot easier in as much as you are not always replacing the bearing block and believe me you do get attached to certain parts of a kit. It's the same principle as putting a limpet shell in the top or using a pebble with a convenient hole in it...

    The Island With Bear Grylls

Not impressed with people swimming when they should be locating water sources. So far there are a couple which are showing a bit of gumption. The main one at least with fire appears to be the young lad that works on his families farm. I would imagine that they are all trained to do the bowdrill...
