I did just that with a super cheap down sleeping bag from Ebay. Rather bright red but now crudely dyed greeny black patches. Have tried it down to -2° no issue's a cheap way to keep warm and packs tiny.

Perfectly explained, Yes they do take up room but I see them as a form of insurance although practice is essential to get back in which I have tried in our local river with a slow flow. Centre ones are not used all the time. This clip really does show the advantageous of which setup you decide.

Granted the item is approx 15 years old, the outer has plenty more life if I can fix the inner. It was a very good deal but I didn't really ask what the interior was like ... oh well I will the next time.

I've just bought a 2nd hand Bergan and on closer inspection have found the inner lining very tacky as if the lining has deteriorated. I can use pack liners etc ... but is there a way that anybody knows to fix it please, talc has been suggested but a temporary fix. Thanks.
