    Waterproofing Canvas... Naturally!

I have a Fjallraven Jacket that I use Greenland wax on, it does darken it slightly and it will stiffen up a little as well. The heavier the amount of wax you put on the stiffer it gets, but the greater the level of proofing you get. Greenland wax is quite hard though. Using a wax preperation...

    101 Uses for Stinging Nettles

101 Uses for Stinging Nettles by Piers Warren. This is the second of two books that I was recently given for my Birthday, both books were cheap and cheerful costing only £5.95 delivered with Amazon Prime. Just to clear up any confusion this book is not a series of tutorials, there are a few...

    dying confuser

John as Rick said get yourself an external drive for backup, also get yourself a linux boot disc. You can normally read and copy most anything on a windows drive from linux, all you have to do is mount the drive. This comes in handy if the boot sector of the drive becomes corrupt or fails.

Shack, it's small and light, so if the bookcase really is groaning then you will probably get away with it.

finnmike, the reason for the post dissapearing is that although you are a full member you are new to the forum, this means that all of your posts go into a moderation queue. When you edited the first post it counts as a new post to the software and as such it has to go back through the...

    Hultafors axes anyone ?

The 800gm Trekking axe is the one inbetween in length alone, weight wise it's probably heavier in the head. I haven't got an 800gm trekking axe here at the moment, I have got the 900gm one here. I could get a photograph of one of these alongside of the GB SFA, GB Hunters, HF SY20, HF Splitting...

    Hultafors axes anyone ?

Over here these are reffered to as trekking axes (I hava trade account with them). One has a 8oogm head and the other has a 900gm head. The 800gm head we tend to refer to as the man hatchet, good for splitting and not bad as a pack axe for travelling, don't expect it to replace a felling axe...

    Day of the Triffids

I am sorry to say that this was a myth started by the American newspapers to discredit the radio as a source of reliable news. Basically it was all down to revenue, the papers were losing advertising to the radio and as such they were losing revenue, they needed to do something and they took a...

    My DIY Ferro Rod

If it's just for personal use It'll last for a good period of time (probably a decade or more). I would try to use it evenly so that it goes square rather than round that way you'll get better wear and tear from it. If, on the other hand, you are teaching and doing demonstrations using it then...
