    Making a home made tarp?

I'd say it'd be better with cotton thread as when you wet the tarp initially, the thread will swell and help to fill the stitch holes. When we were making canvas stuff we got strong cotton from an upholstery place in Edinburgh. I'm sure we got some on ebay last time..

    Fairbairn Sykes recommendations

Yep, the handle may take a bit of whittling...I've no lathe, but may try something with a drill... Fairbairn Sykes recommendations

i was following this thread, and thought I’d have a go at making a copy of this knife. Ive taken the plan from the wikipedia entry, and using 5mm steel i use for throwing knives. Itll take a while, but i think itll be a nice shed project for the autumn

Dog Chew / rawhide rambling and request for advice

It may not be in keeping with the natural side of things that you are aiming for, but dental floss (non-minty) makes a good strong stitching thread. The artificial sinew that I like to use is basically that with colouring and more wax.

    Latest upgrade for Ipad

if you go into settings, general, keyboard, you can enable or disable "key flicks" if it gets in the way. I quite like it, but I take your point its not for everyone.

    Swiss Army Knife Magnifying Glass

I have used it to get an ember going then transfer to a bundle of tinder. IIRC the focal length of the lens is such on the large SAK you can rest it on a map or item and its in focus.

Rusty Flat Skillet in need of a refurb...??

http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44173&highlight=seasoning+cast+iron This is a good tutorial on seasoning. As for getting the rust off, in the past I've used a citric acid soln in a plastic tub to get most of it off and wire wool/sandpaper. then season it after the rust is off...
