I know. Let’s have a leaf with a splash of water underneath. The birch tree was crucial to our living and evolution, and water was a bit important too

I’m talking from the perspective of being on here for 20 years though. Toddy and many others still have had their same avatar for that long. So I’ve known them longer than my own child. And it’s always great when I’ve taken a break and come back on to find them still chatting away as usual...

Nope you can’t change your avatar now. It’s been you for years. It’s a shame the new forum software has reduced avatars down to such a small less defined and cropped image than they used to be. Many of the avatars on here are as familiar as the faces of my family and close friends.

I’ve got mine. Everyone else can get their own.

I like the BcUK logo. Been the same for decades and its familiarity is reassuring and forefront in my mind as much as Coca Cola, the Tube roundel, Rolex coronet, men at work and other prolific images.

    Bushmoot - Rough Close

Too right. I’ll 100% be there next time as it’s not to far from me.

    Chicken off the wood mushroom

Tastes like mushrooms to me Toddy. But I guess the host tree does have some input to the taste.

    Chicken off the wood mushroom

I’ve never found one that tastes of chicken (most of mine comes off yew or sweet chestnut), but I do like it fried in jersey butter with some venison. Cracking stuff.

Recommendations for a knife for the field

There nothing wrong with getting emotionally attached to your knives. Just don’t sleep with them. I’ve stopped now after the seventh accident.

    Gap tree felled!!

There’s more to this. Sadly the uproar of emotion is going to be picked up on and this will probably lead to more iconic trees being felled as a ‘statement’.

    A small collecton of skulls

Almost. Sharks teeth, like most snakes are fixed, vipers teeth are hinged like an automatic knife so they fold down along the roof of the mouth when they close their mouths, then spring forward and out when they open them. This is due to them being so long. Elapids like mambas and cobras have...

@Galemys It almost certainly looks like a female to me. I Look forward to seeing those pictures. The Asp is one of my favourite species.

    UK Knife Law change?

Indeed, I was involved with the design on BB back then, and the entire blade was designed to be very slightly under 3 inches. And thankfully that spec has remained unchanged.

    UK Knife Law change?

I just checked my UKPK which is the only knife I EDC, so that’s safe either way, so I’m happy.

    Catapult Elastic. Recommendation

Barnett used to do several different grades of surgical tubing. Not sure if they still do, but the red stuff they used to make was superior to the standard yellow stuff by far. [edit]. Yeah they still do them…...

    UK Knife Law change?

I understand that. But the written law hasn’t actually been changed or updated to reflect that. None that I can find at least.
