How do you start your fires?

I used to be feather sticks, shavings and ferro rod all day long. But now, since i started buying them for my BBQ i have gotten lazy and use these for most things. Natural, Odourless, flavourless etc which is good for the BBQ. Very portable Crumble one down and add some ferro rod...

This one i cant claim the credit for as it was right there on the tin lol. But i didnt know about it or spot it, till it was pointed out to me so just sharing my enlightenment. So very simple and cheap. Campells 2- step chicken bake method. 1 x tin campbells condensed cream of mushroom...

    Budget belly busters

Quick tip the missus discovered when knocking up a batch of Ragu for doing quick dinners for the little nose-miners. Instead of using 1kg of pork & beef mince, we’ll now use 500g and bulk out with lentils and finely grated carrot. Then use the stick blender to pulse it all to a good ragu...

Is a psk really needed in the UK?

Yes kind of my point. You have to put both the need for and content of a PSK in the UK into context with your activity. If you are undertaking something that requires you to take it seriously then it must form part of your Risk Assessment. And to try and help @Kav ‘s understanding a little...

Is a psk really needed in the UK?

Kind of sums it up for me. I always thought of a PSK as a compact “fill and forget” container with secondary basics you always have on your person in the event you are separated from your main kit. Complementing a basic level of activity specific preparedness That would help you walk away from...

    Xtar flashlight runtime - bogus?

If its a light that your wellbeing may depend on then you have to spend a few quid. I kept going back to surefire and malkoff for my dry land and ocassionally wet. edc’s with good reason. There must be an equivalent in the dive-light world im guessing.

    Xtar flashlight runtime - bogus?

Hey matey. Yes no probs, i had two of the same model for cheap lights for shed and by the back door. One went rattly and the switch went. The other developed a flicker then cooked itself due to poor led mounting and poor driver contact with the heat sink. Just generally badly put together. The...

    Xtar flashlight runtime - bogus?

From my past brief experiences with xtar. If you want reliabilty….. avoid. On the subject of high output LED lights, genwrally anything in excess of 950 lumens will carry a heat penalty and will be for short burst of 1 to 2 minutes quickly ramping down to a lower output. For penetration in...

Wanted Spyderco Pacific Salt 2 - Yellow - Spyderedge (serrated)

As per the Title. Am on the lookout for a Spyderco Pacific Salt 2 - Yellow - Spyderedge (serrated) to go on my PFD, without having to pay brand new prices as it just mainly lives there for emergency use. I currently have the Salt 1 but prefer a slightly bigger blade/handle setup due to...

    Big knives

Whenever I muse over the “only one knife” quandary I always end up looking towards my Skrama 240. Once I got the hang of it and how well the balance shift works with the hand-and-half style grip between choppy stuff and close work I would say it’s a good jack of all trades. For a single carry...

    Air Pistol - Suggestions.

I think you maybe right. I couldn’t remember if it was here or not. Both great fun pistols. I can also second the walther CP88 although not a blowback. The metal slide CP99 is also quite accurate.

    Air Pistol - Suggestions.

Had one of those too. I have to say it was the most accurate BB format pistol I have ever owned. Super solid lump of a thing. Great fun to shoot. Needed a bit of tweaking and additional mags are/were really hard to get hold of. Only con was no open sights. Had to be used with a red dot optic.

    Air Pistol - Suggestions.

Sold all my airguns back during the house move to generate some funds. The only one i Kept was my Umarex SA10. My favourite CO2 .177 Pellet pistol. For all round fun: fast practical style shooting; gallery targets; paper targets etc the most accurate of the Blowback pistols I have owned as it’s...

Withdrawn Couple of Jackets to the purge

Hi Sorry. Just catching up Yes the cycling jacket is a large. It’s not too snug. I can easily wear it with a thin gilet underneath for cold morning rides. Better suited to commuting and touring rather than racing.
