    Spalted beech knife

Very nice bit of work there. I like the look of the height of the scandi grind. A slightly higher grind with a shallower angle works well i think on thicker stock.

His Mums not at all well and hes still suffering with his arthritis and eyesight but fair play he found us at EM and is finding new motivation to get back into it despite it all. Hes still been quietly modding and some of his rustic creations are outstanding

A long term ex BB-er me. I just joined EM towards the end of last year and it seems to be settling down nicely at the moment. Chui is doing a great job with it. Makers are starting to come back. Two Legends by the names of shing and penillon just resurfaced too

3" blade, flat grind, fixed blade

I might try and hunt that out for a look. Yes D2 is high-carbon but also high-chromium so classed as a semi-stainless i believe. With a good heat treat takes and keeps a wicked edge. its one of my favourites.

A BRISA / EnZo Elver in D2 might suit you. Blade is just a shade over 3” D2 is as tough as 01 but has slightly better stain resistance.

    Ricasso...

Thinking about it further two of my favourite tools have a very minimal ricasso which for me is fine. Minimal enough that i dont really register them as they dont get in the way. But enough to suit how I use and maintain a knife. I think i pictured the OP referring to something more like...

    Withdrawn Fallkniven F1 Micarta

Im looking forward to my new Fox river. Its always odd how at the time you think youre trading up for the next greatest thing and end up going back to what worked the best for you after all. (and wasting a few quid in the process) but thats the learning curve i guess.

    Withdrawn Fallkniven F1 Micarta

Having used the cobalt steel there was a tiny noticable difference in edge retention at my basic usage level, But pound for pound just in my humble opinion the standard VG10 version is still Hard to beat if you want an F1. Also These get moved around quite a bit second hand as a convex grind...

    Withdrawn Fallkniven F1 Micarta

I sold the pro earlier in the year. Found the extra stock on the pro just a bit too thick. Made it a bit clumpy. And work requiring finer angles was a bit awkward. Im always sortbof one in one out with my knife as i can only usually afford to keep what I use. Sometimes i overstretch a little...
