    Burning wet logs / woods

I have been thinking about installing the wood burner in the shed. I have loads of recycled bricked piled in the garden too. They will be mortared for making a surround at the back and side of the wood burner, and the chimney will have to be going out through the wall with some metal panel...

    Burning wet logs / woods

Good point. My old wooden garden shed is very damp inside during winter, hence it could do with some heating to dry out the dampness. But I didn't want to spend too much for new stove or electric heating for it. After all it is an old shed which needing replaced sooner or later, and its main...

    Burning wet logs / woods

I was thinking of DIYing a wood burner like in the video. But it is not possible to find all the materials needed for the project from recycle place. So, I will be using my old portable wood burner called WilDo stove which I bought about 10 year ago. (Exactly same stove as these videos...

Do every wood burner in use need to be tested for the emissions rate by some authority, and pass, like cars (older than 3 years) must pass MOT every year?

It seems will take some time drying the wet woods in the bins. I guess they will be fully dry by next summer and with heatwave weather.

    Burning wet logs / woods

It seems raining every other day here recently, and everything is wet in the garden. :( Maybe I will have to look into making a firewood drying hut - with a few wooden poles and corrugated plastic sheets for the roof. But if the fire is burning very hot in the stove, and a bit damp woods and...

    Burning wet logs / woods

I have piles of wood logs in the garden, but they are soaked in the rain water. I gathered them, and put them in the bins to dry them out. My plan is to open the bin lids when it is dry and sunny during the days, and close the covers when it rains and nights. My question is, would it be...

    What fish is he eating?

Came across this video by youtube recommendation. I cannot identify the fish the presenter caught, cooked and was eating. It is the sea they are from, hence I am guessing they are sea fish. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah, there was a faint letter in front of Dutc, I thought and ignored. Now L Duff sounds more familiar, and trying to ring a bell.

Did more cleaning the billhooks, but used angle grinder for light cleaning the surface rust rather than molasses, vinegar or cola. The engraving DUTO sounds like Spanish or Portuguese, but still no clues to what it means. Just guessing it is someone's name or initials.

I cleaned up the billhooks with the wire wool bit attached to hand drill, sharpend the edges with the cigar stones roughly, and hey, they worked great. I now think, maybe these billhooks were made by a private indivual who was a keen blacksmith or just tool maker. Or maybe they were made in...
