    How to hollow a bamboo?

Bit of steel conduit (a bit longer than the length of bamboo pole you want to pierce through) with saw teeth cut in one end.

    A simple Chuck Box

Wayland, I love the chuck box, and the ingenious re-purposing of inexpensive IKEA drawers. Here's a link to something that I think you'll enjoy looking at. Derek Cohen of Perth makes some wonderful things in his workshop.

    Beware the Pig Nut!

I have this idea that I may very well die today or tomorrow or live for another hundred years... So plan for long term, but try to leave no loose ends that others will have trouble dealing with.

    Salting Pork

Everything but the squeal. A great book; I think I have the hardback US edition, picked up second hand years ago. I've read it several times.

Have a guess at this one :)

Not at all! It just so happens that SWMBO and I have been thinking for a while about replacing the crappy, scratch-prone synthetic black IKEA counter tops in our kitchen for a while. I used to know a geology lecturer in New Jersey (a friend of a friend). When he met the woman who was to become...

    Any Dutch Members

Don't worry about writing in English; as long as you write clearly, correct any spelling mistakes (DON'T let your phone "autocorrect" your text), avoid slang and use grammatically correct constructions, you'll be understood.

    Beware the Pig Nut!

In some parts of southern Europe, chestnuts were a staple until well into modern times. When I was a kid, peanuts in their shell were called monkey nuts, but I don't know whether they were raw or cooked in some way. We also used to buy tiger nuts.

Website for translating cuts of meat

I was checking the translation of the Danish word "mørbrad", and stumbled across a wonderfully useful website. http://www.fleisch-teilstuecke.at/en/meat-cuts/

    What you can afford?

I was born into a poor family in a poor neighbourhood of a town in serious industrial decline. I've known poverty (though not of the extreme kind), unemployment, despair, violence personally and also observed it in those around me. I've studied and worked hard, and still take every opportunity...

Do we have a responsibility or accountability? (discussion)

Ambulance chasers... or "personal injury protection" claims, as the chasers prefer to call it. My mother had been getting calls every week for years, beginning "hello, madam, I am calling about your recent motor vehicle accident"... I remember a time in the UK when solicitors and barristers...
