    An Indiana hawk

I saw this pretty girl in the woods today. Looks like an immature Red-Tailed hawk, but I'm not enough of an expert to be sure.

    What Folder..

Those EKAs are really nice, I just got one last weekend! :) I love Opinels, Bucks, Spydies, Case, Benchmades. Benchmades are a bit too pricy, or I would own several! In my younger days, I always carried a Gerber Folding sportsman, like this one but with a drop point ( I don't...

    How much space for bushcraft?

I live in a small town, so things are limited here. I have a decent sized yard, so I can dink around a little but. I'm pretty lucky, too, as I can visit my parent's 11 acres (about half of that is hayfield), or I can visit any of several state owned properties within a few hours drive of me...

    Black capped chickadees

    Black capped chickadees

Chickadee refers to the sound they make: "chick-a-dee-dee-dee" :) According to my Peterson's guide, they're in the same family, Paridae, as titmice.

    Black capped chickadees

One of my favorite part of the outdoors is birdwatching. I was bumming around at my parent's place the other day, took a few knife pics and saw this little fella buzzing around. Very hard to get the darn thing to sit still long enough for a picture. I took several, but only these two turned...

    Grohmann

I have been wanting a Grohmann for many years now, and found one for a price I just couldn't resist yesterday! It's just the standard #1 D.H. Russell, in stainless with rosewood handle slabs. So far I like it, alot, but haven't had time to really put it through it's paces. It did come in a...

    Sharpening progress

I scrape the blade along my thumbnail, and if it scrapes then it still has a wire edge, if it glides along, then the edge is gone. Seems to work so far...

    Your knife for Bushcraft...

That Fjellkniven grows on me every time I use it. It's also my main kitchen knife at the moment, just to get a chance to use it more  Only complaint is that the softer outer steel in the laminate scratches easily, but I got it to use, so I can live with it. I also have a Helle Nying...

    Your knife for Bushcraft...

More and more it's becoming one of these two, Or a combo of these: The Bark Rivers hold an edge really well and get very sharp, the Helle just feels about perfect, and the Rucksak is handy as can be. I still have alot to learn about bushcraft, though. Up until a few years ago my...

    Stainless Steel Mora - green?

Hoodoo, mine's an olive handle with a carbon ( "Kolstal-High Carbon" ) blade. Looks just like yours, only with carbon. I got it at the Indy 1500 show last year. I love this knife! If you want, I'll pick one up for you next time I'm there, only cost $12 or so. I have a pic on Hunt101, but...
