Why an axe and a fixed blade knife?

Isn't a european/UK thing? even these days you can pick up a passible hatchet in a diy shop, everyone's dad/uncle/grandad has a rusty old axe in the shed, and many of us grew up on those in the scouts etc, but a kukri is a very specialist item here, far too expensive for most to learn on...

more recycling - friction folder from stuff in the shed!

Very, very slow with a diamond tipped bit cooled with oil. But i don't think ikea bread knives are up to much. Will build a "proper" one from scratch once i've built a little forge. more recycling - friction folder from stuff in the shed!

:) found another one to "reboot" Proud of this one, my first shave-sharp edge! Now looking out for some old leaf springs and have ordered some bits for a mini forge. Why do I suddenly get the feeling this may be the beginning of a slippery slope?!

    Re-purposing an old knife

Wife was getting rid of an old Ikea, blunt serrated bread knife we found in the back of the drawer when we moved in. ...So I nabbed it to have a play with in the workshop: All done freehand on this: (note to self, must make some jigs to get even angles!) Also made a...

    Favourite one handed opening penknife

I have a really nice Webley locker, but that stays in the garage as it's very agressive-looking. Leatherman wave for choice.

what's your prefered pocket knife? + pics!

Laguioles were gorgious, but out of my price range for a souvenir pocket knife, settled on one of these:

    Paracord Jewellery ???

I think that's the primary purpose of paracord bracelets, to identify like-minded souls. The only other way is to shout "I can't get into this parcel" and see who reaches into their pocket for a sharp!

    Coleman Tarp @ Millets

I spotted that on thursday when some gave a heads up to cheap craghoppers trousers. I'd been looking at the vango version for weeks at £30, which was too much...!
