    Making a walking staff

do you keep these til you die? I use oak and maple(live in the woods of an oak savanah) and just cut a new one when the others are had. I peel all the bark and mark six inch intervals with a wood burner(to check depths). Cut it off armpit length and ready to go.

    crayfish

I know this isn't funny, but, the american crayfish in WI are endangered by a European cray fish called a rusty.

    Light Kit

Yes, you follow a turtle up away from the lake and watch for them to dig and then help yourself. All the other animals help themselves too.

    Light Kit

Shewie, About sucking eggs, is that a regional slang or something? I was taught by a native in the Chippewa National Forest how to bite and suck a turtle egg. Kinda leathery to bite so you have to be careful or get a squirt.

    Fish trap? keep net?

If you speak with the rest of the states they would roll thier eyes and sigh about Wisconsin. Organized rockabilly and drinking. But we have a lot of water and fish.

    Fish trap? keep net?

The new ones have a top that is plastic and floats. They are used a lot in the US. I can't tell the size but we use them for carrying what we call "pan fish". Hang them over the side til it's time to clean and you have fresh fish. I had a 7 Lb. northern pike bust through one last summer.
