    What’s your top scone recipe?

That one looks very similar to mine in terms of proportions & they come out lovely. Bear in mind that the addition of an extra egg will make it more cake-like. I usually brush the tops with milk & sprinkle a little Demerara sugar on top for crunch.

    Wanted .20 cal air pistol

Looking for a 2nd hand air pistol or compact air rifle in .20 calibre. Ideally something like a Crosman ratcatcher with a takedown stock as it’s for controlling rats. Come to the conclusion I like .20 as a pest control round so want to get another one. Budget is minimal, so 2nd hand is the only...

    Sold Tyvek by DuPont

I have a couple of pretty big pieces of Tyvek left after a project which might be useful for the ultralight makers on this forum. Tyvek is a weatherproof membrane used in the building trade to seal roves & walls before cladding. Amazing stuff. Almost impossible to tear but can be cut with a...

Sold Mixed lot of air gun pellets .177/.20/.22

Recently came across a boxful of various airgun pellets of various calibres from various guns I’ve owned. One is still sealed & most of the others are pretty much full I think.. not going to be light to post so £25 the lot to your door. See photos for details.

    New member introduction

Welcome along. Fishing for me is more like a feeding exercise. For them rather than me, obviously!

    Sold DD XL Tarp

I’m not sure if this is the lightweight version or not as it has lost its bag & pins, guys etc before I got it. No holes, all the loops in place and reinforced. It’s in very good condition but too big for my current needs so I’m moving it on. £35 tyd. Offers via DM will be considered. Not really...

Looks very cool. I like the simplicity & also love N690 as a blade steel.

    Spoonfest? Anyone going?

Amazingly I’ve been accepted ax a volunteer this year at Spoonfest. Is anyone else from BCUK going? If you’re in Cumbria, or passing through on the way, do you fancy sharing costs of transport? Message me. Cheers, Simon

William Rodgers "I cut my way" Knife - any good?

Whereas it’s actually proper Sheffield steel. Makes a great slicer & prep knife for camping.

    What’s the point?

I think that most of us can agree that it is easier to do any given task when using the correct tools. Knives are no exception. Filleting a fish with a meat cleaver is possible, but not advisable, as a sharp point and a flexible blade are an advantage. If one could afford , and find room for...

William Rodgers "I cut my way" Knife - any good?

That’s the exact one my Dad confiscated from me in the 70s! They aren’t worth much but that one looks in excellent condition.

    Writing a Will

Having been executor of both my parents wills and my brother’s I suggest that you choose someone that you know well and discuss it with them beforehand. I knew I was executor for my parents, but in my brother’s case it came as a complete surprise. As long as the executor is reasonably...

    Favourite Sandwich

Apart from the usual suspects, my top three would have to be 1. rare roast venison on fresh crusty white with cranberry jelly & a schmear of cream cheese. 2. Amalfi lemon sliced very thinly with skin intact on fresh buttered dark treacly wholemeal bread, also cut thin. 3. Sliced banana and Old...
