Yes. Robin Wood hosts at Spoonfest along with Barn the Spoon. Always some nice tools & toys on site for purchase.
That knife was a prototype for a very slicey sloyd for long cuts. It works very well.
Anyone else attending Spoonfest this year in Edale?
I’m going again as a volunteer so please say hi if you come by the pizza oven. Just assuming that’s where I will be again.
Cheers, Simon
Pic for attention.
I remember reading a while back about fermenting pine or fir tips to create a syrup without using heat so that the true nature of the fir is revealed in the syrup.
I think if recommended Douglas Fir as a good one to start with. Has anyone tried this? Is it worth doing and what did you do with...
I have a pair of Black Diamond ones which I bought after an injury. Now I’m older and have a few more health issues I appreciate them more than ever. They also work as poles for my MSR tent and do collapse down pretty small for stowing away.
They do help with stability for sure.

Plus one for vacpacked flapjacks. Homemade with lots of fruit & nuts. They are so high in sugar that they keep for months this way. Another bonus is you can break them up for porage & just add warm milk. I’d add some fruit leather as well, for chewing on now and then.
Someone else said Mora or potentially an Opinel. I’d agree with that. Both good quality for the money; Opinel tends to be crazy sharp out of the box too.
Get a pocket saw for the wood processing.
After having a few over the years I’ve only got one Urban left. I had a couple rescaled in Jabroc a few years ago. I sold the other one , a UKPK, a while ago & think I will probably let the Urban go as well.
The blade has been etched on it too. Let me know if you fancy one.
A friend recommended Steinhart to me years ago & I bought one.
It is a total tank of a watch & keeps excellent time.
If you like something that is seriously functional give their range a look.
I wear it far more than any of my other watches.
If anyone is planning on driving down from the Lakes or Scotland I’m very interested in a carshare. Otherwise I’ll be going to Edale by train.
Obviously happy to share fuel costs by car.
