For Sale Ben Orford Field Knife.

Ben Orford Field knife with leather magnetic neck sheath on paracord. Very little used as the antler tine is just too small for my big paws. The blade is spot on. Very sharp & holds the edge well. Rounded back on the blade so better for whittling etc I think. This would make a great Christmas...

    Beeswax

Beeswax is miraculous stuff. For all the purposes above and also for me, for a couple of very specific jobs. The first is to make “white butter” to line my copper moulds to bake cannelés de Bordeaux. The second, to line a glass bottle in which to age a Negroni or Boulevardier cocktail. Beeswax...

    Tool Roll suggestion.

I found a decent canvas chef’s knife roll online somewhere for about £20 which would be good for tools. Only got about a dozen slots though, but you could put a few extras in the middle inside the flap to get more in. Has a carry handle and a shoulder strap too, which is useful.

I have given up on sanity

I feel that sanity in general is vastly overrated. Usually by those whose own may well be suspect. I’m fine in my bubble thanks. I will get around to adjusting stuff eventually, or not.

    Dealing with Rings

A good working silver/goldsmith could recover the gold & the stones and remake them into something you would like to wear. I have a friend who does this regularly for people. Her business is called Nisha Halo. Her work is lovely. Really nice person too.

    What did you buy today?

One of the few knives I really do regret selling is the one I bought from Rob years ago. The more knives I own the more I realise how good that one was!

    What did you buy today?

Really like my 600 but they are prone to quickly trashing the nylon sheath supplied. Where was the kydex one from?

Sold ENO Travel Nest Hammock with Straps. BNIB.

I’m a confirmed ground dweller so I have absolutely no use for this kind birthday gift. Aiming to pass it on, at a substantial saving, to someone else who will make use of it. Eagles Nest Outfitters Travel Nest & Straps Combo which “includes everything you need to hang out & relax on the go” inc...

Cocktails... whats all the fuss about?

Master of Malt is probably your best chance. Around £30 I think.

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

Good reason to carry. Can’t see anyone having an issue with that. People seem to see a little pocketknife as far more threatening than a sharp serrated bread knife. That’s what I was thinking about the whittling knife. Always some upright busybody prepared to feel “threatened”.

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

I’m surprised that a bit of whittling on Wimbledon Common doesn’t draw any attention.

Cocktails... whats all the fuss about?

An interesting new product on the market to add a new element to your whiskey sours is Dr Hostetters Bitters. Based on Rye Whiskey macerated with sour cherries, pomegranate and lots of spices & citrus peel. Low ABV at 20% but you can add some regular whiskey to boost it if you want extra...

For Sale Fox Knives Edge Neck-knife

On Hold until Friday. Dibs available. Sweet little neck knife in good order. Nice & sharp & textured Micarta handle with fitted kydex sheath & the chain it came with. I’ve got the box for it too. Used very little as it is just a bit small for my huge paws, but it would make a nice sloyd or...

    Compass question.

Inherited this compass when my Dad passed so there’s a certain amount of sentiment attached & I’d like to be able to use it. The bubble has got bigger over the last few years & I’m wondering if it can be refilled & resealed at all? Anyone know? My Dad taught me to use a map & compass & I must...

    EDC - Money

I always carry cash. Usually around £50 in my wallet and another 20 in £ coins in a carry case just for bus fares, tips, parking etc. I try to use cash at small businesses as I know what the cards cost each month!! Many restaurants and bars in London no longer accept cash at all, which I think...
