    Sold Montane Extreme Jacket

Something else from my ongoing clearout. Like new, size XXL. Great jacket, very warm and cozy. Complete with hood. Loads of reviews online for these. Every bit as good as a Buffalo and, the hood knocks spots off the Buffalo one. £65 posted to your door.

Sold Karrimor SF Odin 75 plus side pouches.

Originally purchased for a trekking trip which never happened. Hardly used since, as I can't do multi day trips any more for health reasons (Hence why I'm also selling off some other stuff). So, it really is like new. It cost a pretty penny along with the side pouches when I bought it. I...

Sold Cooking gear joblot for sale.

I'm clearing out a load of gear and, this lot needs to go. I've not used any of it for a while and, it's priced up to sell as a joblot. I'm not looking for any swaps and, I don't want split it all up due to the costs and hassle of individual postage. It's all in good, working condition, a lot...

    Best hiking socks?

I don't fine them anymore expensive than Bridgedales if I shop around. Trekitt have a sale on at the moment and, there's some Darn Tough stuff in that. I find the guarantee reassuring, rather than a set in stone commandment and, I could never be arsed to post things to the USA anyway. But...

    Best hiking socks?

Another advocate of Darn Tough socks here too. I've been using their "full cushion" ones in my Lowa boots and, they've been great, no hot spots or discomfort at all.

    DD SuperLight Tarp Tent

I've got the "A" frame one. It IS very light and, doesn't take up much space in a pack. It's not as fast to pitch as some other tents, especially if it's windy. I also binned the pegs that came with it immediately. Once it's up, it's pretty spacious and, has very good ventilation and access...

    Highlander Jaguar Bushcraft Knife

I bought one for my son a while back. I've got mixed feelings on it to be honest, the firesteel is average, as is the sheath (you're right, it IS left handed). It was not very sharp when it arrived and it took ages to get a decent edge on it. My son went back to his Mora and I now use the...

    Help, which trousers??

If I'm out on the trail, I swear by my 5.11 trousers. A good fit, comfortable, hard wearing and fast drying. If I'm a bit more isolated, I still find my old army jungle trousers to be fantastic (you can pick them up for less than a tenner these days too).

British Army Bivy and Groundsheet, Yes or No?

I never used a groundsheet with mine, I just select my bivi spot carefully and pop my thermarest inside. Used this setup in the army and since leaving it and never once had any problems.

    Advice on boys first knife

There's a decent selection of "value" knives over at Greenman Bushcraft. Like this one, a "safety" knife. I bought a couple of the Hultafors knives out of curiosity, for my teenage son and they are fantastic value for money, like the Mora's. The money you save could go towards getting him a...
