    Middlewood Scout Camp Meet

I may be out - it's my beloveds 30th. Currently trying to find out what she's planning.

    Bushmoot 2007

My thanks as well. Myself and the beloved had a great time. Apologies for the rather drunken storytelling on the Saturday night, but I had to wait till the little ones had gone to bed. "...I've got Fenris's b*********s, and they're mine, all mine..."

    Hammock Tying

I use 1 inch webbing tied onto an aluminium 'O' ring that the hammocks 'S' hooks attach to.

Archaic coats - stylish, but effective?

Perhaps an old fashioned great coat made from modern materials? Goretex or equivalent outer, a good wicking inner, possibly some fleece inbetween for warmth. I for one would love something like that.

What's the latest bit of kit you've bought and why?

Yesterday was shopping day; 3 man ultralite tent ultralite sleeping mat silk sleeping bag liner tarp and poles picnic blanket (the beloveds idea) a hiking shirt and pair of lightweight hiking trousers The joys of shopping in Decathlon, one stop for all your reasonable quality needs.

    Hydrostatic Head Conversion

Yup - we're looking at the Quencha T2 Ultralight Pro from Decathlon. It's a bit cheaper and a bit lighter than the Coleman Avior X2 which is the other option I'm looking at. Obviously if people have a better reccomendation for under £100, I'll gladly listen.

    Hydrostatic Head Conversion

I need to buy a new lightweight tent, and one of the options I'm looking at doesn't give its hydrostatic head (a measurement I'm at home with), rather it gives a measurement in L/hr/m² I've no way of relating this measurement to what I know. Is 450L/hr/m² the equivalent of light, heavy or...

What's the latest bit of kit you've bought and why?

The beloved bought a Lowe Alpine rucksack on Sunday, and we're buying an ultralightweight tent on Wednesday. We're walking part of the Pembrokeshire coast for the week after the summer bushmoot, so all my heavyweight stuff is useless.

    What's your favourite campfire tipple?

I must be getting old. In my youth, I'd drink whatever was passed around, including the melon of death. Then I'd happily drink decent ale and mead all night long. Nowadays, I can't beat a few bottles of wine and/or mead. Whiskey is good in small quantities, but only if it's good whiskey.

    Double Hammocks

    That would be great. Cheers.

    Double Hammocks

Matt - sadly we're not short enough for that to work. Squidders - yup, we were basically rolled together, so all the sharp pointy bits of the body were sticking into us. also this meant that our knees were locked out straight, which is an awful thing after a while. I'm not sure how I could fit...

    Double Hammocks

Me and the beloved tried out my double hammock for the first time on Saturday night. We're both of the opinion that it's incredibly comfy. When you're alone in it. When we both got in, it was like some form of medieval torture. In the end, the comfiest way we found was to sleep head to toe...

Where Does your Username Come from

Mine is a pseudonym I use when registering software that I suspect will deluge me with spam. Also my real name was already in use on gmail.

    Ventile or Gore Tex

Regatta make them. You may be right as to the Isotex numbers, I don't have the jacket to hand. I have since vowed to never buy from Regatta ever again.
