Wanted: Leatherman, preferably older vintage. Will trade for ZT0350 or SwissTool

As the title says, I'm looking for an older vintage but decent condition Leatherman. Happy to receive offers of any of the large / medium sized old Leathermans e.g. Wave, Supertool PST etc. Been looking for a year or so and haven't found anything. Have a Zero Tolerance 0350 or a...

What type of edge do you prefer?

My day to day favourite is the chisel grind on my edc kiridashi. It's essentially half a scandi grind and is a bit like a pocket paring chisel.

Victorinox Swiss Tool for Leatherman Wave

It is the standard model with the serrated blade instead of scissors. It is in pretty good condition. The blades are in original factory edge condition. I have used the file a few times. I also have the wrench/ bit adaptor and would be willing to throw that in too if the right offer came...

Victorinox Swiss Tool for Leatherman Wave

You are probably right. It seems to be the consensus on most of the multitool forums that the Swiss Tool is much better made. But I've always wanted a wave or one of the old school Leathermans (old style super tools etc) and I had hoped that somebody might like to benefit from my sentimentality...

Victorinox Swiss Tool for Leatherman Wave

Hi there, I've got a good condition Victorinox Swiss Tool that I'd like to trade for a Leatherman Wave (or similar model). I've always wanted a Leatherman since I was 12. This Swiss Tool has seen little use apart from the metal saw which has been used. Let me know if you're interested!

    Choosing a knew axe !

May I throw another option into the ring? I like to buy vintage American axes from the large American auction site. Shipping is usually cheaper than you'd think and the prices are normally so low that they don't meet the minimum tax threshold. Names to look out for are Kelly, Flint Edge...

Finding CPM3V for a custom blade?

If I were you I would consider a couple of other European steels. CPM3V gets a lot of noise because the majority of the makers and buyers and forums seem to be in the US. But having bought a bunch of 3V a couple of years back for a chopper, I would probably recommend some other steels now...

Heads up! Maine Pattern Axe... Making The High Carbon Overcoat Bit

Yes, I know what you mean. It's funny how some things pique our interest and other things don't. For me the American tradition is fascinating because of its historical connection. I like the pioneering, the canoeing the mountain man, the homesteading. I suspect that if most of us are honest, the...

Heads up! Maine Pattern Axe... Making The High Carbon Overcoat Bit

In the late 19th century there was considerable debate about whether the overcoat method or the inserted bit method was superior. In the great little book American Axes by Henry Kauffman it describes why the overcoating technique became the dominant technique. The overcoat technique was not...

Heads up! Maine Pattern Axe... Making The High Carbon Overcoat Bit

Thanks for the advice Dave, I've been an admirer of your work for some time. On this issue of the V versus U shaped overcoat, I would have thought it would be ok. It's 12.5mm thick so each side is around a quarter of an inch, and because I've used a slightly larger quantity of HC steel than...
