Ive made my own heavy duty hammocks from cordura nylon. Its expensive but it takes a lot of weight without any problem.
And in these xmas times, being able to take on a bit extra weight doesn't seem to be a problem at all :P

At least keep your batteries inside the jacket. If you put your camera inside beware of fogging up due to moisture and heat from your body.
But you should be fine. Just be careful with bringing the equipment inside especially if it's warm and maybe a bit moist inside (drying wet clothing...

I had a direct experience of the "up's and downs" this summer actually while tracking along Kungsleden in the northern mountain regions of Sweden. At half the ascent up towards the highest point on my trek (only 1100 m btw, this is Sweden...
Actually i was all out of cash and decided to walk the 19 km between Kebnekaise and Nikkaloukta at 5 am in the morning so i was sure i made the bus to Kiruna, so no boat trip and no Lappdånalds for me :)
