Can anyone tell me if I should use varnish or Danish oil on yew wood intended for a bow?

I'm making my shafts from scratch, I use a bow that generally fires arrows of about 29" long but this is flexible; I try to experiment. At the moment I tend to glue then stitch the feathers on. Often I just use goose or pheasant feathers as I can find them easily (I know people with geese). :)

How many arrows would people advise me to have in stock at once? Could anyone give me some tips on fletching and what I should use? Thanks :)

I think that it's a good idea but only should apply to those who use them in urban environments becasue people like farmers do actually genuinly need them.
