    Titanium Hatchet?

I was curious, and found that the Wrangotool website ships only within the US. The only UK distributor for their tools I could find sold their hammers but not the axes. That left just Amazon US, which priced it around £145 including the shipping and duty. That is GB SFA price point.

    Titanium Hatchet?

I was also thinking about questioning the energy transfer statement. But decided it was too minor to fuss about. It did occur to me that it might be possible to accelerate a lighter axe to higher speed within the limits of arm power and swing length. Higher speed leading to more energy in the...

    Titanium Hatchet?

Thank you. Understood you now. You meant that Mecha is the resident expert on Bladeforum. Easy to misunderstand you though, because saying that someone is “our resident expert” implies an association. Since you were not here representing or on behalf of Bladeforum it was reasonable to...

    Titanium Hatchet?

Hello Dennis, For everyone’s clarity, Dennis is the founder of Wrangotools. Is Mecha working with you on this project? From that Bladeforum thread it didn’t seem so, but your post here made it sound like he is involved. Thanks Chris

What is the point of taking an axe bushcrafting?

"I thought our main ethos of bushcrafting was to leave no trace which I truly believe in." As we have had several lengthy and contentious threads where members have argued about what "bushcraft" even is, it is rather a stretch to assume there is a predominant ethos. ;) :D It might be more...

    UV protection hiking shirt.

Paramo Men’s Katmai Shirt. Have used one for just about all sunny adventures since 2005. Not the sharpest looking, but performs well. I have a Royal Robins 5:11 tactical shirt esque design that looks better and works well, but hasn’t been made in many years.

OLIGHT i3T2 EOS Torch Alternatives ?

https://uk.olight.com/store/i3t-2-small-edc-torch AAA powered or 10440 rechargeable. When you say “similar size” do you mean length and diameter or just length? Obviously you can get more run time in the length by going to a fatter battery, which is what I would do. What is your intended use...

    No perfect set up?

For ticks, it is hard to beat spraying clothing and fabric with a permethrin based product. Repels and kills those that have a go anyway. Next would be the BushWear NO Tick wash in repellent. Finally for something to wear on oneself, I favour a picaridin based product rather than DEET. I have...

    No perfect set up?

I will try to answer all the questions you asked. Yes. :lmao: Since there wasn’t another question in your post, I am not sure what, if anything else, you were wanting to know. ;) Good luck with your musings about erecting or deploying a tarp or umbrella while still zipped up inside a mesh...

    A small rod..

I swapped treble hooks for singles on some lures. On the Rapalas it did effect swim action and I got fewer hook ups, but it was a lot easier and less fraught to un-hook. https://www.anglingactive.co.uk/blog/post/replacing-treble-hooks-with-single-hooks I used the VMC light inline. I am a fan...

DIY TLUD stove, looking for expert review.

Hello, Would be better to have the picture so it displays with BBCode in the thread rather than downloading when link clicked. I have pasted it here for ease. Your manner of describing the design is a bit hard to follow, mixing radius, item when you mean holes and some diameters. For...

    W W U do?

What I would do, and what I would advise you to do are two very different things. I would not have bought an old knife just to cut up because I prefer to work with known material with uniform starting sizes. Also, I would feel bad destroying a perfectly useable and no longer manufactured tool...

Help required identifying this old Daniel Silcock tool

Okay, thanks. That is an impressive tool, and somewhat the same shape. That video is from China. Was the same technique used in Britain? I am also dubious about it being an entrenching tool, although I think it looks more like one than it does one of those of hoof trimmers.

New Member Cheshire - date of a William Rogers knife?

Hi @Pattree My bad. Sorry. I posted a link to another forum thread with a William Rogers knife. It showed a picture. Roger hasn't shown a photo for us to say it looks like anything yet. I have removed the link I posted to avoid confusion.

Help required identifying this old Daniel Silcock tool

Do you mean a farrier tool, or something for removing the hooves prior to butchery? If a farrier's tool, how would such a large and clumsy tool be used for trimming a hoof?
