GREAT! Now what should I do? Test it out, or eat first!?!
Thanks again! Sandbag and Nick (who must be quickly running out of his business cards now;) ):You_Rock_
Why are you all so enthousiastic about those hammocks being shipped?
I'm affraid of getting sea-sick in the hammock when I test it out in these winds..
Better look for big trees, otherwise with the tarp over it it'll be something like kite-camping.
How 'bout a group buy for nice...
You are free to do whatever you like with my additional discount.
Don't forget to treat yourself to at least one very special beer or whatever you fancy! You've put in a lot of work.
I would feel great to visualise you sitting in your newly received hammock sipping on a cold one!;) I...
watching discovery channel & national geographic channel (ultimate survival with bear grylls is playing now)
watching range of Ray Mears DVD's
watching the old RM stuff on youtube (all country tracks are on there!!)
watching other bushcraft stuff on youtube
collecting 'pages' of paper birch...
It seems that I have missed out on a great number of good films here.
I haven't seen most of the films mentioned here.
First Blood is quite outdoorsy :BlueTeamE in a violent kinda way.
We've had a magnificently entertaining series on Discovery channel called 'Hunting Chris Ryan' which also involved a team of experts hunting down Chris Ryan, who showed some excellent skill and tricks to keep up his hunter force in all sorts of terrain.
I want to increase my order if that is possible.
I would like to add:
2 x 3x3 tarp and
1 x travel hammock
so in total: two of both tarp and travel hammock.
Thanks a lot and have a nice Christmas everybody!

Thanks a lot there. I sure fit the category!
Any comments about the best fit drill diameter for elder on a commercial pine hearth?
I was puzzled by the small size of the first drill I had succes with.
All of the materials I've seen have a slight taper to them (in nature things seem to...
:notworthy thanks all for your cheers and support.
I have found this forum to be a great help in 'sticking to it'.
It is nice to share successes and failures and learn from each other.
Have a nice weekend all!

I've used sotol for both hearth and drill. The flowering stems I've pruned were quite thick at the bottom (4cm diameter) and tapered to 5 mm at the top (1 meter long I guess).
I used a quite narrow drill tip (+/-7mm) for this successfull attempt. The hearth was cut from a lower segment...
Great videos!
I now found an explanation for my blisters!
Next time I'll try to only press with the sides of my hands. See it that works.
What a lovely medium these tutorial videos are.
Thanks a lot.
