Fair enough mate, my current bushtool user is plate -less and I prefer it.

It’s a bloody good tool Rob, and if everyone was satisfied with an Opinel, a boring place would the knife world be. For me, a more rounded handle end, or a longer handle solves my particular niggle. Horses for courses and all that.

I have to say, I’m glad I’ve owned and tried one. That honey/brown G10 was the perfect handle material for it. I had some trouble parting ways to be honest, but I’m knife user over knife collector these days so I sent it off on another adventure. Your price was silly decent for what it was, so that got passed on too. :)

I’ll get a pic of my lovely Blackthorn antler topped stick that I prepped with it. It’s still a bit of a lazy work in progress and needs a couple of mosaic pins in the antler and some finishing, but I spent a lovely few hours at West’s Wood Fair sat on a straw bale chipping away at the stubborn old thorns, abusing my poor soft skinned thumb on that striker spine. :D

The bushtool will remain the same size and grind but I'm looking into stainless steel blades.

Before he got stupidly busy producing the Skookum, Rod Garcia made one for me in S30V. It really is a superb tool and holds its edge tenaciously while still being easy to sharpen.

I've been after a knife that combines the handle of a Woodlore with the shape and geometry of a Bushtool - a bit like the Blackfeather Woodsman does. Would you be willing to make something like that for me, Rob?

I still love my Bushtool and, when using it, I can tell that it has been designed and (beautifully) made to be used for a huge variety of bushcrafty tasks. Perhaps you could produce one in S30V or CPM3V for me...!

As for the Garron pack, it's great to hear that the straps are now a little wider. While I understand that it's not meant for huge loads, when I think of what I sometimes put in my Munro, it's got to be up to that and, ideally, comfortable; I'm sure it will be! It's great, too, that Roger listens in and reacts to comments about it. Generally, these suggestions will only make a great pack even better and it's a rare privilege to have a manufacturer listening carefully to his clients.

When it comes to the axe tube mentioned in an earlier post, that could easily be used for an ice axe when out in the hills in winter despite the fact that years of habit usually makes me shove my ice axe down the side compression straps - it's easier to access it there!
