About 6\7 years ago my Wenger ranger 57 pocket knife fell out of my pocket, it happened as I climbed out of the cab of a Daf 4 tonner while on exercise, the lad driving pulled off and left the knife bent, with a broken scale and the clip point blade missing the tip, though it all still worked, so i sharpened the flat tip and carried on using for a further year or so till I re found my Vic hunter, then it laid in my kit trunk, till I chanced an email to the Wenger\Vic warrenty dept, they requested I send the knife to their UK agent Whitby knives, Kendle, they then sent it on to Wenger in Switzerland for appraisal and if possible repair.
I had stated that if at all possible I would like the knife repaired rather than replaced and will of course meet the cost, My Father had given me the knife for my 13th birthday just before he died, they found however that the knife having been bent out of shape, and the blade parts not being made or held, it would be impossible to repair without retooling to make the original parts, so they sent me a spanking new ranger 57! It arrived this morning with out any pre warning, to say I was shocked is an understatement.
I am of sad that the knife dad gave me is no longer really usable, but the stand in is now just carrying on the gift he gave me, my hunter with walnut scales will go to my son when I think he is ready, And I hope he has it with him when during the times when he need to think of his family as I have had mine.
Thank you so very much Ollie, and Wenger.
Cheers.
