Jura, Talisker, Laphroig- cant go wrong with those.
Tried the Arran and liked it, but funnily enough not keen on Highland Park.
For cheaper whisky The Baillie Nichol Jarvie is also very nice ( but as noted above, you can sometimes get Jura at the Coop for the same price !)

Penderyn for me although I'm preparing to be lynched for that as it is Welsh (made in Brecon) not Scotch. Of the Scottish whiskeys I'm not a fan of the Islay malts they're a bit too peaty for me. I do like the Glenfiddich Solera Reserve.

At this time I've
Glen Moray
Auchentoshen 18yr
Old pulteny
These arn't my favourites , just what I've got .
Must add I do enjoy a blend , Jamesons is one of my all time favourites .
Trev .

P.S. For those starting out on the whisky trail , A single malt is also a blend , single just means it's from the same place and obviously a malt but it is blended . Blend whisky means its made from grain , not worse just different .

well if we are going to be uber pedantic, if you spell it with an e i.e: whiskEy, then its irish; owing to the different ways we spell water in our respective languages uisge in gaidhlig (scottish gaelic) and uisce gaeilge (irish gaelic)

it doesnt make much difference anyway. if you look at my list of whiskies, then i have Penderyn in there as well. its lovely.

IN FACT the whisky that is produced in Japan called Yamakazi has every single ingredient imported from Scotland except the water which they source locally.

heheh i liked the comment from Woodman. I would love to share it with everyone but i think my resources would be dissipated at an alarming rate!

St Austell.
I haven't tried many whiskies but my favourite is talisker 10 yr old! Wonderful flavour :D I would be trying all sorts of different whiskies if I had the cash but for now talisker does my nicely.

I know this is a single malt thread but has anybody tried the black bottle blend? It seems to have quite good reviews and my collins gem whisky book recommends it :)
