folowing on from this http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67387&page=1

i put the eucolyptus on with black liners, and some more homemade pins,

back filled the filework with apoxy and ink from a black pen, (seemed to work)

soaked it in 1/3 danish oil 1/3 linseed oil and a 1/3 melted beeswax for 24 hours,...

then buffed it on a mop loaded with beeswax.

i gave the blade a little polish, but it had picked up some marks during heat treat (something i need to ask about)

i,m addicted now tho,..,...

number 5 in WIP , 6 & 7 are on the drawing pad now,....

plus i got a delivery of steel today and a fella gave me 4 big old files and two saw blades

anyway i,ve gone on a bit zzzzzzzzzzzzz,..so,...

raikey number 4,...,...my 4th knife,...ta daa,...hahahahaha

Love that filework. I have a bar of 01 steel sitting next to me as I type, that will soon be used for my first attempt. It it turns out half a s good as yours then I will be happy.

very very nice job indeed and for a 4TH atemt you should be very proud, iv never made a knife from start to finish, done plenty of alteration and re handling etc but presumed it would take ages to produce something to that standard.
got me thinking now

Out of interest how long would you loook at start to finish for that?

i measured the "labour hours" on this one Rich,...

it seemed to fall together really well,..the blade was ready for HT with 5 hours in it,....

then i got lost a bit last night with the handle and needed a 2nd opinion (cheers to Southey, PaulSanderson & Mentalnurse)

so i had an extra two hours re-doing the handle profile,...but up to that point 3-4 hours on the handle,...

i reckon, if left alone,..a piece of O1 and plenty of tea,...12-15 hours could get one done comfortably..

Hey dude

What thickness O1 did you use? what's the overall length and length of blade/handle?

I'll be ordering some steel tomorrow and want to get a couple of different thickness' as i'm going to be doing a few different styles

can i ask a very noob question? beautiful knife by the way. i was wondering about the pattern on the spine, everyone keeps talking about the filework, do you literally file that pattern into the top part of the tang only? i noticed it was plain underneath. i know nothing about making knives, so apologies :)
