lunar eclipse Tuesday

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
If it's between 0700 annd 1000 hrs, only those on the night side of earth will be able to see it, surely?

Lunar eclipses take 3 1/2 hours start to finish the times are UK times, it is better in the US where it is very early morning but it should still be full eclipse for some time before the sun rises.

I'll look out for this. The only time that I've experienced one came as a complete surprise. My future wife and I were sat next to a fire on the beach in Ibiza when the moon started go a strange colour. We sat there drinking our wine and eating our food, watching the Earth's shadow taking a bite out of the moon. Amazing.

Just checked the BBC forecast and it looks like the north will have clear skies first thing tomorrow and the south cloud, so at least half the country will see it.

anyone noticed its on the winter solstice?

First time since 1638 that it's coincided with the Winter Solstice and won't happen again until 2094. Another thing regarding the ecplipse is it's also a slenhelion, which means you can observe the sun rising at the same time as the eclipse is happening.

I'm just hoping the clouds will clear for this rare eclipse but as Treadlightly say's the north looks like it has the best chance of observing it.

So it starts just before sunrise?

cant see anything now and its -6

I think there's some cloud or mist where I am (Midlands)
