i really like that:) the handle shape looks perfect and you chose some real nice wood. the file teeth give it a workman like look.
6mm is a bit too thick imo but i know how hard it is to find files that are thin but wide.

good job!

Cheers buddy glad you like with it haveing a taperd tang and the bevels ground half way up it feels great it holds a fantastic edge and as sharp as a knife can be:);)

been looking at making a knife from an old file for some time, think this one is the inspiration i needed.I personally think the file patern showing in the finished product looks great. thanks for sharing

Looks great!!!

Sorry for asking probably a stupid question - but, whats the process of file ----> knife?! Is it just grinding, or do you actually have to put it in the forge...

:D :D :240:

Cheers fella:)
The file needs to be softened so it can be worked on i.e. drilled ,shaped ,and ground heat the file till non magnetic then allow to cool very slow I left mine in the forge till it went out this will soften the file so you can work on it when you have done all the work on the blade re treat the blade like 01 steel job done hope this helps atb phil.;)
