.....how do you sleep in a hammock if you 'traditionally' sleep on your side or your stomach?

Are they only any good for people who kip on their backs?

Can people like me convert?

No problem at all mate, I tend to wriggle about all night and often wake up on my side.

If you get yourself a decent enough hammock with a bit of space you should be able to lie across it diagonally, that gives you a much flatter plane for starters.

Give one a go mate, you'll never look back :)

Thanks for that.

I am going to the Netherlands for a 10 day cycle tour in May. I will be taking my 1 (person?) man tent and a DD Tarp for a bit of living 'space'.

I am toying with the idea of a DD hammock to compliment my set up, and use it where there are trees available, and ground-hug in the tent when not.

'S easy to convert!

In my king sized posture-pedic all singing-all dancing - you'll never need another bed whatsit - I'm a side sleeper where I get adequate sleep.

In my hammock, I sleep on my back - like a calm baby - for many more hours than I can manage in that bed.

A few nights experimenting should sort you out!

My hammock is more comfortable to sleep in than any bed.

The biggest drawback to a hammock is not ever wanting to sleep in a tent again.

I never wake up in bed lying on my back, but I quite regularly do in my hammock. I have woken up on my side, and on my front a few times.

You will not regret buying a good hammock. (Warbonnet Blackbird ;) )

I got a hammock recently.
I took so long getting one because, like you, I don't like sleeping on my back.
The I found the 'Tenth Wonder' ones on Ebay for ten quid or so, and I thought, 'what the heck - for a tenner I'll give it a go!'
And it was the best ten quid I've ever spent. YES - you CAN sleep on your side in them! I have.

I use this Paradise Hammock and have done for quite a few years.
I always sleep on my side, and because it is a double, it allows me to sleep at a diagonal 45°. That in turn means I can roll on my right, or over on my left without the bum shuffle. I don't even wake up to turn any more. Hammocking has provided me with the best nights sleep ever in TGO.

Paradise Hammocks currently have a sale on too.
