Guy over the ways chucked a mower.

I was wondering about salvaging the blade...would it be good steel??

Hes also chucked some thick rose branches, is that worth saving??

Those old lawn mower blades are excelent metal for working into things. The majority of mower blades are made from 1084 high carbon steel, or 5160 carbon/alloy steel. They can be used to make some very good knives, scrapers, chisels, and most things for cutting. I also use them for making flint strikers. I pick them up whenever I get the chance - for free of course.

Hope this helps.

i'v got some sickle blade. its better than most mower blade(higher carbon) how much do you need?

The wood from the rose bush is pretty good wood. Not to be confused with rosewood as I did. I handled one of my gauging trowels with a thick rose branch. Its a very hard wood and polishes up nice..
