Esquif Echo

Hello. Does anyone on here have, or have tried an Esquif Echo canoe ? If so, What are your thoughts on it ?

The Echo is a 14', 19kg, shallow arch hull, canoe that probably falls into the 'Pack Canoe' category. That's great if you're looking for a solo day or short trek canoe, but it will be slower and harder to keep in a straight line than a longer canoe if you want to do longer treks.

I have been looking at 'pack canoes' this summer (hence why I came across the Echo) but I now have a planned winter project to build a 14' cedar strip lightweight canoe. We'll see if I get it done!

I Do have an Old town Pack already, but having a few Canoes, want to end up with an NC Prospector, and a solo canoe. Am leaning towards an Echo 2 with higher sides, hence more freeboard. Also like the olive colour they come in. Hope you post on here regarding the Cedar strip. That sounds great.

Hopefully we'll see you doing it...? I know documenting a project is a monumental pain in the you-know-where, but an eager audience awaiting the next post of progress is also a really good motivator.
