Been some years since i read this the first time, time i gave it another go. Written by a local lad Archie Hill back in the early 80’s. I happened across it in the late 80’s in a review in AGW Magazine but didn’t get a copy till around the millennium. Glad i did it’s a good read, a little poetic you might say but good all the same. Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams.

Very interesting book about her years working in a senior role at Facebook. Zuckerberg / Facebook / Meta tried to silence Sarah by means of "lawfare": a legal writ forbidding her to publicise her own book at penalty of massive fine. Nonetheless she appeared on stage at the Hay Literary Festival earlier this year. She sat there for an hour or so smiling and not saying anything while the other two, Carole Cadwalladr and Tim Wu discussed her book.

Ironically, I'm sure that Zuckerberg's actions probably improved the sales of her book!

Strongly recommended. Humour; darkness; weirdness; duplicity; etc. And quite shocking in places. And discusses the Facebook / Meta internal processes that have resulted in the recent "Meta to pay up to $18bn to settle claims its platforms harm children".

Capitalism cares for the prospects for mankind as much as a wolf cares about a lamb's...
