Saurons Spork

I'm in need of a spork as I'm changing some kit around and realise a long reach spork isn't something I have and would be useful , especially if its made of Adamantium or at a push Vibranium.

But before I go buying any old spork willy-nilly I thought I would consult the hive mind for suggestions - have any Spork makers made one spork to rule them all?

Has it got additions I didn't realise I may need that would be useful?

A Spork is a Spork but Excalibur was more than just a Sword.

So any suggestions ( with a linky please ) to any Spork that can rule all other Sporks and why?

Or maybe there is a utensil that is better than a Spork?

( Maybe someone has welded a tube to the back of a long neck spork and now its a... stra.. ,stpaw... sporktaw?? for sipping drinks )

Well as sporks go there is one made of Unobtainium, the price is ridiculous but apparently it does work slightly better than the plastic one use disposable one. For several years I have used the Bundeswehr combination, heavy but looks to be made to open T72s.

I was somewhat tongue in cheek with the material choice but clever design is clever design right upto the point that it becomes silly.

These are the ones that I use - at home and in camp.

I am an inveterate spork user.

They are two cm longer than the lightmyfire plastic spork but the same design but stainless steel.

Of those that I’ve tried these are what I’d recommend.

(I’ve commented before on the cost benefit of SS sporks against titanium. I quick pi wee and you’ve gained more than the difference.)

Of course you really can get a spork with a spanner set built in but I can’t for the life of me think why.

Almost every camp site that I’ve been to offers free chop sticks. Once you have a pair of tree wood sticks and a spork, you are a rat pack chef!

Most of the cooking pots I own I've purchased to nest with my water bottles - so they tend to be narrow and tall - so to ideally access the bottom of the pot without getting my fingers in ( and potentially sticky/gunked up - especially late at night ) I'd rather keep a decent long reach element to anything if possible as opposed to getting closer and more intimate.

I’m sure that you could find a spoon to sup with the devil that pleased you, in a charity shop. You could also file in prongs that worked specifically for what you want.

I have titanium, but honestly I think the best thing is actually real cutlery....a Viner's Splayd

Strong, comfortable to use, no mouth tearing sharp edges, easy to eat with, but it cuts, spears and spoons just fine.

Ti spork works a lot better than the plastic one, I have seen a longer version somewhere. Mme Toddy's SS version probably beats most "outdoor" ones.

I can kind of see the use for one after your explanation, my Trangia set tends to be wide and wider so no real need, come to think .........

Alpkit do some nice stuff. A long handled spork being one of them. If it does not need prongs then sea to summit do a nice long handled spoon.

Those you linked to look good. I like the LMF sporks but I've snapped a couple of plastic ones and the Ti one feels horrible in the mouth. Couple of extra centimeters would be appreciated too

A stainless steel spork is what you need. Etch your name on to it for group camps.

If necessary, lash a stick to the end of the handle!

Those plastic sporks are useless for a Kelly Kettle Hobo user. I’ve used to watch the tines the on the fork curl up and blacken when I got too close.
First thing in the morning after a frost and they snap like carrots.

I have nearly a dozen of those stainless steel ones. I give my children and grandchildren etched ones on their first camps.

Being a bearded ice cream lover I used to buy tubs but that uses two disposables - tub and spoon - every time. Now I carry a spork and eat from a cone.

In camp, I may not carry a knife but I could sure use a spork sheath (perhaps attached to my secateur sheath )
