I exited my silver longs entirely at 8am this morning when the LSE opened. I ended up with a profit that increased that accounts value by over 9% so it was a very nice trade. I will be looking to trade Silver again.
Nailed it!
Fair play to you. :35:

Genuine question - by what means are you following it closely which the media aren’t aware of?

I think maybe , if I may , that there is a time lag of information and detail that percolates down into the Media. Conventional Media if you will.

And this makes sense - pick any subject material point and there will be those more interested in whatever the subject matter than others and commenting upon it via back room channels of what we know call social media.

Either that or the old Illuminati ticker-tape machines.:)

I can't work out if the question is aimed at me but if it is the answer is that I am watching the stock markets. The media has been silent on the bigger picture and I wouldn't know which media to trust anyway on any information, mainstream or alternative

No it wasn't - it was a response to Chris.

If current trends continue silver will be the second highest asset by global market cap value before the end of this month pushing Nvidia down into third place.

Silver is now the second highest asset by global market cap. It took just three weeks for get from fifth place to second place. A couple of months ago it wasn't even on the list.

As I understand it Market Cap for precious metals is based on above ground metal stocks and price - but how does anyone know how much has been produced? I imagine a lot of countries will not disclose their stockholding or, how much they have produced/obtained secretly.

Correct and good point. The market cap for precious metals is obtained by multiplying the current spot price by the world's known above ground reserves.

But there is more above ground than what is known. China in particular are very secretive about how much they have. It is certainly far more than the official figure suggests. China is one of the worlds biggest miners yet they do not report most of what they mine. They've also been buying boat loads of silver dore (partly processed ore) from other countries which also does not get reported in the official figures. It is likely that China have two or three times more than official figures suggest. Maybe more. They'll likely wait until they're ready to sink the dollar before they make their holdings of gold and silver public.

I won another £325 :)......and I weighed my silver charm bracelet and silver chains.....450g
There's a lot of jewellery, cutlery, coins, trophies, etc., around it must all add up to the amount of silver in the country.

Edited; TMI I'm told :shy:

I'm not selling my charm bracelet :)
I've been collecting those since I was five and a great Aunt in Canada sent me a little silver corgi and an Aunt gave me my chain bracelet.
I still get a new charm every year :D
ah. i must have read it wrong xxxx

Probably me muddling it.
I won £325 on the Premium Bonds....and then I weighed the silver after reading the top post on this page.

Seriously there must be so much silver about in so many different items.....I've just remembered that I have a box with a dozen different silver rings in it too. I wore them when I was a lot younger.....stuff like that must be so common.

I know folks can sell gold by using a link online to get a quote /postal bag or one of those pop up type shops in shopping malls. Don't think I've ever seen one for silver though......yet.

yeh. when I say I weighed metal it means I scrapped it . lol xx

I was just curious to see just what weight I had in all those silver charms. Really surprised me. I've been saying for a while that I can't really wear the bracelet now, and there's another bracelet's worth of charms that I hadn't soldered on. I still find them fun :)
This year I got a silver Russian doll one that opens up to reveal another doll...that comes out attached on a fine chain. Very pretty. Most of my charms are moving or opening ones.

Within familes of a certain age - Yes.
Do we / you / I think younger families own Silver? Are they likely too? Do we now live in a generation where getting Silver bits and pieces ,things that last as heirlooms is aspirational?

Yes , there is Silver around - is it equally spread throughout society.?

Probably not evenly spread. I think you're right about it (mostly) being a generational thing.

When I was married I quietly inherited a lot of bits and pieces from Aunties and Great Aunts. A lot of the cutlery, some of my jewellery, silver teaset, that kind of thing. As elderly relations died off and their goods and chattels were spread through the family I ended up with more.
I did buy a lot too though, or was bought it as presents.

I think it would surprise a lot of people just how much silver they have around. From baby bangles to thimbles. Fancy pieces for the dinner table, or the good cutlery kind of thing. Old coins too.

I've told my sons when I croak it to pick what they and their SO's want then ask my nieces, nephew, and cousins children to do so too. The rest can be sent to the charity shop, or if anyone's in the notion they can sell it. It's just stuff. It's nice stuff, but silver always was 'nice stuff'.
I think it ridiculous that I'm now looking at it and thinking it's valuable for more than just stuff I like and memories of folks long gone.

Lot of it around though, and an awful lot of it still in the UK rocks.

I think because its coming full circle - when it was purchased it was done so as it aligned itself with value - not cost -- Inherent value , sterling silver.

I guess ever since the FIAT experience of what value is considered to be , people have probably disconnected from that in some way.
